Default 993 RS Steering wheel

Hi,

I´m about to pull the trigger on the 993 RS steering wheel for my dads 968 and just want to make sure it hooks up to the 968.

http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p93069.htm

This one is a Momo for Porsche wheel and uses a Momo adapter.

From what i´ve researched the 964, 993, 944 and 968 have the samt momo boss kit 7004 so i´d imagine that this wheel fits the 968 just fine.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks
/Peter

Absolutely!

But they cost more...

And the RS wheel makes it a little more modern.

They don't cost much more. I got mine from a UK shop, Porscheshop.co.uk. They ship with almost everything you need (except the bit for the horn - 92865210400). I really like the way it looks though..

Thanks guys!

Its a tough choise!

I really love the CS wheel but thinks the RS wheel feels a bit more modern and looks good.

It looks like the grip is fatter on the CS?

Sydneyman: Care to tell me about the airbag resistor mod? And I don't need to worry about the airbag popping in my face during the switch?
Also do you have more info on your RS carpet set and RS door cards?
Looking to switch the burgundy interior of dads 968 to black and maybe it's possible to trim the dash in alcantara and mod the rest?

I've had both - had the RS before I bought the CS. CS grip is much thicker than the RS wheel. Personally, I prefer the CS, but I don't like it with the metal crest.

Hey Peedster, here's a write up that goes into some pretty good detail:

a 928 part number is also required to retain your horn. the part number is 928.652.104.00. also the resistor goes into the airbag harness and is a 3 ohm. just follow the instructions, its all there!

also, if you want more clarification, this website is helpful, just go to "How to".

i got the RS carpet from a company called appbiz. the price was very reasonable and for an extra 60US, i got a back seat delete kit in the same material. www.appbiz.com

the door cards are actually 944 turbo (because i wanted to get rid of the tweeter at the top) and i found some black leather looking material at a craft store and had an upholsterer install it. This covered any holes that would have been seen from deleting the armrest, etc.

The door pulls are 964 RS plastic bits that just attach to the door card and not anything structural on the door. The actual red straps are just some material i got at the same craft store. They are attached by a bolt and washer in the door frame. I just used an attachment point from the armrest that is now deleted. The straps are attached by cutting a hole in both sides of the material (after creating the loop in the strap by just folding it over.), using heat to preserve the integrity of the hole, and running the aforementioned mounting bolt through with a washer.

Its a little fiddly to get it to work right and line up with the 964 bits in the door card but so far its been doing its job for 2 years or better.

Hope this helps!

Awesome, thanks!!

The RS carpet kit doesn't show on their website? Maybe no longer available? Or did you buy carpet on a roll and cut yourself?
Aprox price and do you have pics?

Very interested in this since we're looking for a black CS interior to switch the purple original...

that loose piece on top in the back is not glued down at this point so thats why it looks funny. also the floppy bit at the rear of the car is to form around your spare. its not installed yet in this pic so again, thats why it looks weird...

Completely fab!

I think I'll order 2 sets... 1 for dad and 1 for my 951!

Did you do alcantara dash or something?

Will do: Carpet set, RS steering wheel, RS door panels and maybe try to trim the dash in alcantara!

Thanks a lot guys!
