No Problem Donn,

When you have as much "stuff" as I do makes more sense to trade off instead of adding too..

I saw one for sale. The guy was selling his 968, all kinds of parts which included an aluminum torque tube, race part. It had to be in the for sale section on here or Pelican.

95ONE was making a custom race part himself. You could try contact him. He's a good fabricator.

Non-split 968 torque tube has been built up and is shipping out today!

It's replacing a split torque tube that finally gave up after many miles.

The aluminum torque tube idea doesn't really save all that much weight and if it isn't built correctly using the proper aluminum alloy and welding techniques, can be dangerous. As was said earlier in this thread, the torque tube helps locate the engine and transmission to each other and is designed to hook itself up in a crash to the chassis of the car arresting the movement of the engine/trans into the cabin area. There are other places where weight can be saved and a lot cheaper too.

The Corvette torque tube is a very big beefy unit compared to the rather thin torque tube in the 924/944 and 968. Different engineering compared to the Porsche torque tube units.

Cheers,
