Another Write Off 968

It always sucks to see them on there and iaai both. I rescued a iris coupe almost two years ago. I tried to buy an s2 cab at copart 2 weeks ago but didn't quite get it bought it was gonna be a decent haul bill to get it home it hammered off at 2750 I went 2650. I was swap my turbo goodies into it since I really wanted a 968 cab but I think a turbo cab would be sweet!

ummm, these aren't effing Ferrari's.... mostly, they're 9~12 thousand dollar cars with a very expensive (of what's even available) replacement parts context. if some of them get smashed up, the long-block engines, transmissions, heads, camshafts, radiators, glass, torque tubes, steering racks, strut mounts, control arms, brakes, wheels, seats, ps pumps, ac compressors, rear carpets ect.... all can be had for pennies if you pick up a parts car. then you can keep a daily driven car—going.
the average 968 would benefit from like, one whole junker per runner.

Maybe someone needs to start a donation thread so we can buy Ourandina another brand of car so he can go tell those guys/gals how stupid they are for admiring a particular make and model.
Alan, your comments are usually akin to "yes your wife is beautiful, but she smells kinda funny".
Don't go away mad, just go away.

it's fun to pile on. sure, it's sad to see any 968 go. and just as much so for the Black, White or Midnight Blue examples as the more rare colors..... but, i never sold a 968. so i can't be accused of treating them like they're just another bucket of bolts—(like Porsche).... my point ?? some people want to drive them just as much as they were driven when they were new.... but Porsche doesn't have an unlimited parts bin, and even if they did, some of those parts would be prohibitively expensive.... (including transmissons and complete cylinder heads and long block engines that are probably not available) and with no parts cars, more of the the 968 fleet could begin to look like the Jag XKE or the 928..... with lots of pretty cars sitting in driveways, and few available parts. but, despite the carnage brought to us by the Grim Reaper (Gene), clearly, 968 bits absolutely don't go to waste... the engines get absorbed for a 944/968 projects and track cars. and a $1,500 used transmission fits into people's 968 budgets better than a $5,000 dollar rebuild. other bits like the side mirrors, rear spoilers end up on 944s... and people pick up the wheels for replacement on their 968s. the 944 and 944T forums is little more than a junk car swap meet, and while, it hasn't come down to us having to dis-assemble our cars just to sell them.... but when the Grim Reaper posts a car, the lurkers *(and 968.net people ) take notice..... and wrecks get stripped to the bone....

Speaking of which, if we get OD a new car let's make it something other than a Honda as well.

I think Gene posts the info for those of us that track the cars or may want a project or parts. i have R.I.P. in my database. I am often asked how many are left. i can tell you how many red 94 coupes with a tip and a black interior were made but i don't have the answer to that question. They were rare when new, they are rarer now. One of the reasons i like the 968.
