Oil cooler fan?

Yes, while I feel that an auxiliary oil cooler is a smart precaution for a track car, a properly-running cooling system should keep you temperature gauge no higher than the 9 o'clock position, even on the hottest day at the track. I would do a very thorough test of your cooling system before doing anything to improve your oil cooling. I understand clark's garage has a nice write-up. There are a lot of things to check - whether there's proper flow (which could be inhibited by a bad thermostat, clogged radiator, or a failing water pump), that the fans are turning on correctly (this can be hard to troubleshoot with our noisy engines), that the radiator isn't obstructed by debris, that you simply don't have air in your system, or a faulty reservoir cap, etc. It would be a good idea to invest in an inexpensive temperature sensor gun, check the temperatures of all your hoses, and report back as to what you find.
