Default 968 for sale in KC

This one is a sad story, but a friend's 968 is up for sale again, and perhaps a 'lister would be interested.

A dear friend of mine, Tim Krumm, owned a Midnight Blue/Grey 968 6 speed coupe that he purchased out of Texas back in '05 or so. It had a fair number of miles on it and a suspect paint job, but Tim *very* diligently put the time into the car, did the clutch, head gasket, top end, front end, suspension and a million other details, and then had an excellent paint job put on the car. As far as I am concerned, it was in as good a shape as my low mileage cab, and a lot of folks here will vouch for me as being "fussy" about my car. Tim eventually got the track bug bad, and sold the car in '09 (iirc) to move up to a Cayman S. Some of you may know that Tim passed away in Sept.

The gentleman that bought Tim's 968 is a nice guy who was the announcer at the KCRPCA Club Race. I believe he has maintained the car and hasn't put too many miles on it since Tim finished restoring it. It currently has about 170k miles on it, and unfortunately, the current owner has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and is putting the car up for sale. Karl Wilen will be doing an inspection of the car at his shop soon so that it can have a full disclosure and I believe Chris MacIntire will be handling the sale for the owner. I am guessing the car will be offered up for around $7k, but thats pending Karls inspection.

I knew Tim *very* well and he was an incredibly fastidious mechanic. I'd be very happy to see it go to a Rennlister and carry on the legacy that Tim brought the car up to. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will get you in touch with Chris. I believe you'd be getting a heck of a sweet car.

so close. I'm pretty sure I'd be murdered in my sleep if I spent wedding money on it though

It is very nice of you to tell us about your friend and his car, do you have any pics of the car that you can post?

IIRC, its a '93 and its not a LSD or M030 car. I'll talk with Karl and see if we can get some pictures, VIN and option codes listed.

I'll be doing an inspection on the car this week, and once I have gone through it, i'll post up pictures and more details on the condition, etc.

I am sad to hear about Tim's passing. I had spoken to him at times and met him at Palooza. God bless his soul.

Tim was no doubt a class act, we all had great admiration for him here in KC.

Mark passed away on Saturday unfortunately, but at least he isn't suffering anymore. I am writing up the PPI as we speak, I hope to have it posted on our website by tonight with contact information for the person handling the sale.

Thanks. Not sure if "our website" is RL, the link in your sig or something else, but I'll look out for the PPI and updates.

Wish I had more time to spend on the inspection, but here it is. There is a lot of information there from the last 2 owners, so please read through the report carefully, it should answer most questions that might arise. Mileage is 175k and change. I can answer questions regarding the PPI. Family is asking fair market value for the car, anything related to price and generally interested buyers can contact Chris at Merrillcompanies.com who is helping to handle the sale. Car is located in Kansas City.

Thanks, quite a detailed report. How much $ worth of work would be required to get the car ready for a 1,200 mile roadtrip?

4 tires
TB
seals
P/S pump
radiator
did I miss anything?

Whatever it cost I can tell you that a 1200 mile trip in a 968 is priceless. Bringing mine home from Ca. was my best motoring experience ever.
