did you replace the chain with the pads? its a three handed job for sure. I used FRs write up also.
yes, I replaced the chain and the pads and adjusted the camshaft strictly to factory settings. Wow, what a difference now. The old camshaft setting, done by the former PO years ago, must have been some degree off.

What resources did you use?
What dial indicator?

Yes, how do you know? According to his video I adjusted my camshaft. The 968 procedure is apart from the pressurised Variocam module the same.
So here is my DIY quick tutorial: 12 steps to adjusting the 968 camshaft.

Just a dial indicator from ebay plus fittings, nothing special. My first step was to watch Jürgen's Video for the S2.

Thanks for that. Is there any info on making sure the balance shafts are correct?

Well it was yesterday actually, got the last of the Mazda parts off the 968 and replaced the central tube.
But now that I'm going to be using the complete drive train from a '89 951 I'm concerned that a 944 NA central tube will be strong enough. NA and Turbo's have the same part number according to the PET Katalog.. Anythoughts on this. The NA part I put in has
59,XXX Miles on it the Turbo part I had on hand with the same part number stamped on it had 124,XXX .
Now that I have the '89 Turbo should I use that central tube? I have you to I.D. Its part number I guess that will be the tell. Oh BTW the '89 952 has 70,078 miles.

Lots of ebay dial indicators out there but be sure to get metric as most of them are standard on ebay.

I also found the magnetic mounts to be worthless as they moved too easily for my liking. Arnworx has a cheap bolt on adapter for any cheap mag mount you buy on ebay. You just unscrew the mag mount and then screw into this adapter. Here is the link.

Replaced this hose and bled system. No more coolant leaks! Took car for a good drive today, first time in a couple months. I'm really starting to like this thing. I think once I get this rough idle fixed, which I believe is a timing issue and has been ongoing since I bought it. This car will be pretty awesome.

Installed a clear bra Tuesday in preparation for the drive to the West Coast Gathering. Then today took it out for a drive over the mountain with a local sports car Club for lunch in Sedona. Over and back the mountain portion is about 35 miles each way with about 200 turns and 2,000 ft of elevation change. Light traffic, and I was the lead car. I'm always impressed how much fun this car is on the right roads.

You tested out your new protective clear bra by being the lead car?
Your supposed to follow a dump truck and then go "wow this **** really works!!"
