993 headlights
There's an opportunity to buy a set and wondered if it was worth the trouble. What are they worth?

if you get the DEUTSCH NINE 968/993 fender kit, you won't need the 993 headlamps -- as the kit includes a smaller halogen lamp fixture that is both funtional and lightweight. Mark and Benji worked for several years to produce a pretty killer setup.

i couldn't resist getting the genuine xenon lamps. next, i had them modded to 6000 k. unfortunately these lampsets are big and will not fit underneath the shorter D-9 fenders. to make them work you have to open up a 968 fender a lot more. i went ahead and picked up a set of 993 fenders that were damaged over by the wheel wells in order to mod up hybrid fenders that will have the Xenons at the true 993 angle of about 50 degrees from horizontal, where as the D-9 setup has the lights sitting closer to 40 Degrees above the horizontal.
i'm sure Benji's fenders can be modded to fit the Xenon lamps.... there is one downside to the D-9 fenders. i'm sure their setup would probably be okay up to about 140~150 mph, but will almost surely require reinforcement with a layer or 2 of an epoxy composite of either glass, kevlar or carbon after that.... let's be realistic. category 5 winds slamming down on our cars are nothing to pass off here.... there's a reason supercars are made out of many layers of carbon and epoxy.
what kind of mod are you planning ? kit or 1 off?

Based on the info it's probably best to stay with stock...for now.
