Default I have got the "religion"

Just got back from PCA Palooza. OMG, what a blast!

I have seriously been contemplating a Boxster Spyder. I almost bought one in January, but couldn't quite get over the red interior. I have a heavily built 951 that will cover anY track duties I require, so what exactly would a Spyder get me that a 968 wouldn't? Nothing. The 968 is an incredible car.

I am hooked for life, thanks to Leonard and Melody for the reminder!

I'm starting to arrive at the same conclusion and will probably be selling my speed yellow Boxster S to focus on 968. There's not another car I like more for under $50k. 911 GT3, Ferrari F355, and Ariel Atom are the only other cars that I get excited about but for 3-4x the price of the 968...

i have to agree. I also have to say that when i went to the 968 from my 951, it felt a bit bland... after very few mods though, my car truly feels like a sports car should... the noise, the ride, the steering, the seats(sport), the low and midrange that the turbo didn't have... just a true driver's car.

I'm not a Boxster fan but i have to admit that Boxster spyder is pretty sweet. I even saw a white one, which is a color i would typically not want, and it looked fantastic. that said, I love the 968s. they look and drive great and have a unique factor that the Boxster will never have. right there with you.

I wonder what kind of work the Boxster Spyder would want to feel comfortable on the track. There are a few Cayman guys I'm friendly with and most have upgraded the suspension, brakes, and safety equipment for DE's...

I have driven one on the track, and the proper question is, what is your goal? If you are looking for the "ultimate" track car, I think the Cayman is a better platform, as it has more rigidity. The Spyder, imo, is the ultimate "compromise" car, in that it does a bunch of things really well, but not necessarily the "best" at any of them (performance wise, not cosmetically, which is a subjective matter).

Its fun to take on the track for a DE, and responds well in its factory configuration, but if you want to make a real track car out of one, I think you'd be better off starting with a Cayman S or regular Boxster. Or perhaps a 968!
