Default Rear Wiper Deleted, now leaking

I recently bought the rear wiper bung from Promax (Monkfish from ebay). Now that it is installed I have a leak.

Did I screw something up, or is this a poorly made part?

I removed the wiper assembly, and cleaned both sides of the rear window thoroughly with Windex. I then aligned the rubber o-ring on the bung so, that it was completely surrounding the hole, and I screwed the 2 pieces together and tightened them as much as I could with my fingers.

I have 3 thoughts:
1) find a way to further tighten the bung to compress the o-ring and form a seal.
2) treat the o-ring with a water-proof substance (Vaseline) to help it seal.
3) this part is a piece of crap that is poorly made, and I'm out ~$35.

Any help will be appreciated.

Not familar with Promax piece but in general their products are top notch. I am using the factory wiper delete kit and have had no issues at all.

You need these parts:

Thanks for the responses, but so far it doesn't help. The rearwiper delete plug that I got from Promax does not have the fittings/grommets described int the link (http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...2Frearwiper%2F)

It seems like a nice piece. Aluminum with embedded o-rings on both sides, but there is not a good way to tighten past finger tight. I'm worried this is the reason for the leak, or that the piece is warped, enough to leak, but not enough for me to be able to see.

I bought it from here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Porsche-Rear-Wip...item4ce75e45a0

the picture @ the above link is good, but doesn't show both sides.

As far as applying a sealant of some kind, even though I probably never will, I'd like to have the ability to replace the rear wiper. So I don't want to use anything too permanent.

Thanks again for the help.

^Chubs, you need to purchase the 944 parts.

Are you telling me I need these parts in addition for the Promax part I already have, or as a replacement?

The link looks like a way to do the wiper delete, with only the parts listed in the link.

I'd really like to make the part I already purchased, work. If I can't find a solution I will probably try to figure out another solution.

I recently removed my rear wiper too. The aftermarket part I bought was well made, but didn't really fit, so I kept the rubber plug from the wiper assembly and cut one half off so the new part would fit. Hand tight, no leaks.

I would say it needs to be tighter than finger-tight. Adding a small amount of, say, dielectric grease would (should) make it seal excellently.

I am using the stock rear wiper's rubber grommet, and an elevator bolt / nut at a delete plug and it has not leaked in about 5 years. On my 944 I have a factory delete plug and that one does not leak either. Cheers

Yeah, I can thank my friend "cluckett" for the idea (and the parts). I painted mine black, and honestly the flat look appeals to me more than the convex look of the factory delete plug.
