Default Color opinion

I have the opportunity to buy a 94 968, 2 owner, 55k miles, 6-speed, with full maintenance history. Besides being a logistical challenge (car is in TX, I'm in NY), I'm still trying to figure out what to think of the color combination. The car is White with Cashmere interior. Any opinions out there?

Your opinion is most important. I like white 968's.

Sounds like a nice car. Remember, the early 94s have the 944 style seats and the late 94s have the 993 style seats. There are a number of other minor differences as well. I'm not sure where your car is. Post the last 3 digits of the VIN and I can tell you more.

I assume you are talking about a coupe. In that case P5 grand prix white is the third most popular color (299 produced for North America). As for combos, P5 grand prix white with the cashmere/black interior is the 6th most popular combo with 80 produced so you will see others.

I certainly am OK with that combination...

But seriously here: isn't that completely a matter of your taste?

Interesting info, thanks. The last 3 digits of the VIN are 629.

True. I just wanted to see what other people think, though. My 12-year old son thinks the car in White/Cashmere looks "old"

Okay, it is a late 94 so it would have all the changes, both good and bad. That includes the 993 style seats and the lack of engine compartment trim. Most people prefer those seats. As for the car:

#1826 of 2,234 NA 968 coupes
#569 of the 718 1994s
Options include LC partial leather in black/cashmere, 398 17" cup2 wheels, 418 body side molding, 437 full power driver's seat.

Tell your son that there is a very good reason for the color combo. It is a TX car. It is hot in TX, and that color combo absorbs less heat than a color combo that looks less "old".

This is a generalization, but since when have 12 year old boys had good taste? When I was 12 I thought the greatest car in the world was a Lamborghini Countach. 18 years later, I'd much rather have a 968.

That is my color combo. I LOVE the look of it (I love my color matched wheels as well as spoiler) but I will say that I HATE detailing it. It is next to impossible to get all of the polish/wax off. You just can't see it very well.

rhs63 - Think about this.

They will be making white with cashmere FOREVER. Classic color combo and just like a black tuxedo it will never go out of style. I have a polar silver with classic grey. Really didn't even like it the first time I saw it, but it was 64K all original one owner car with great documentation and no previous body / paint repair. It was better for me to have the right car in great condition than a great color that was beat to pieces.

If you don't want the car I may be a player. Contact me if you pass, but I say go for it.

BTW, I LOVE my color combo now!

Jeff, I was just wondering, how many Coupes in Midnight Blue with Cashmere interior were produced (that's my favorite color combination)

The good news, it is the 8th most popular combination!

The bad news, we are talking 968s here which are all pretty rare.

They produced 72 North American 968 coupes in F8 midnight blue with black/cashmere interior.

You are most likely to find a F8 Midnight blue coupe combined with classic gray interior, they made 89 of those. 220 midnight blue coupes in total, 4th most popular color.

I think white is one of the best colors for a 968. I love cashmere interiors in, say, a red 968, but in a white one it's nice but not awesome. For me, the best interior on a white 968 would be two-tone black and classic gray (black dash, upper door panel, headliner, and gray carpet, console, lower dash, lower door panels, seats).

But that's just my opinion, if you buy it YOU have to like it!

+1 that detailing a whitey can be a PITA. So much claybar...

Jeff, would you happen to know how many white coupes came with classic gray interior, and if any of them were black/classic gray?

Arash,
They never did a two tone interior with classic gray unless it was a special order. Classic gray was all classic gray. You could get Black with the light gray (92-94.5) or black with marble gray (94.5 to 95).

For the white cars there were:

P5 white with black/light gray: 6
P5 white with black/marble gray: 8 (993 style seats)

So, they are pretty rare.
