Great - I would love to see it. If you find it let's get a new thread started where we can bat that ball back and forth. I didn't mean to get this thread this far off base.........but I seem to be good at that.

Cars do not need to be maintained by a shop to be "properly" maintained. There are planty here with well maintained cars and that is one of the reasons a bunch of us come here. The point is to help each other and avoid shops as much as possible. The site is for DIY guys and people looking for general info, not for shills or vendors to promote their shops, unless ofcourse you are a paid vendor.

Or he could just be opining that a shop not familiar with 968s could be worse than a car not properly maintained. Case in point, I bought my 968 from a guy with tons of receipts from an indy in Memphis, (Memphis Motorwerks) which led me to believe the car had been well cared for, and the PO really did try. I drove it home and took it to my mechanic for belt service anyway, and the belt was improperly tensioned, and in fact had a cut almost half way through, I posted a picture of it at the time and still have it hanging on my garage wall. It also had rotors on the rear that did not fit properly causing wheel shake at high speeds. Those were the two things i found the first week and it took me another two years and about 5k$ just to get the car sorted, even though I had records where the guy had spent a small fortune at that one shop.

Any of the work you mentioned can be done at a competant shop. To be honest, most of that work can be done any individuals without needing to go to a shop.
If the car is taken to a hack, it doesn't matter what car they work on, it will be hack work.

Too far away for me. I'm looking at a midnight blue 968 in the classifieds here on Rennlist. Hopefully I find some time to see it this weekend.

I don't know, maybe I'm "spoiled" on the subject because I have 16" Cup 1s and 17" Cup 1s, some I'm used to comparing the look of the same car both ways...but I always feel like 16s just leave way too much sidewall to match the look of the car. And 17s aren't the only option, I think 968s look good all the way up to 18".
