the only things i miss about my turbo are the boost lag (since it made me feel like i was going fast at 35mph...)
The 968 motor is rather unexciting in its power delivery over its revolution range. I am curious how much a 928motorsport supercharger would change this!

The first generation 951 produced 243 pd ft of torque at 3,500 RPM ,the most robust S yield 250 pd ft at 4,000 RPM ,the 968 peaks 225 pd ft at 4,100 RPM.On paper it looks like the turbos should outrun the 968 easily ,but on the open road this is a different story.Because the usuable torque of the 968 start much earlier than the one of the turbo. It does provide a source of trust which is neither peaky or momentory, example as low as 1,000 RPM the 968 is producing 147 pd ft of torque versus 117 for the 951 a 25% gain over the turbo & it continues at 2,000 RPM the 968 pumps out 191 pd ft of torque versus 148 for the 951.And torque my friend is what make a car go fast not horse power.Let get thing clear here I'm talking about none modified 951 or 968 but factory stock.Agee that the turbo spoll is thrilling you migth feel your going fast but not as fast as you think, the 968 is the opposite it won't get the blood rushing in your veins,it pick up speed without drama & in a well mannered way.So both cars has different way of getting from points A to B & different feeling to them ,personnaly I'll stick with my 968.Mine is very well sort out suspension & motor wise & lol I wouldn't trade it for any turbo car don't matter if twice as fast.

I guess I missed my 944, 968 or 928th post as I am over 1000 now. Here is the real key though, I am still waiting for my 968th post where I actually had something valuable to add. It may be a while. LOL

I think it definitely would be of advantage to at least wait for the improved stage 1 (improved supercharger pulley) and 2 (billet aluminum crank pulley) kits, and perhaps to wait also for customer feedback on that kits.

What worries me and what holds me back from ordering the supercharger - and I invite feedback on that - what the supercharger would do to my n/a transmission and clutch.

great post Ernie.

this is why i'd take a 3.0 Variocam w/ turbo running low boost over a 944T getting ready to explode any old day. just think the overall torque and power curve vs courting meltdown would make for a very satisfying driving experience. i considered it. but with the $$$ that would be involved with turbocharging a 968, i could get into doing head work on an LS2 or LS3.

Roger (California Motorsports) sold a coveted .600 about 4 years ago on Ebay for like, $950.

- Does that label apply to you as well?

- user XYZ is lame because he doesn't post tons of times to clog the forum with "fresh" but useless posts? Or because he has a life outside of Rennlist?

- Maybe owners don't post (or even lurk) because their 968 is always running great.

- There isn't much to talk about regarding 968s, all mods are well covered and like I said repairs aren't needed often. The majority of the threads in the 951 board are regarding engine repair, turbo-related mods, and bench racing. Oh yeah, and parts for sale.

- the car is low-production, and currently low-valued. Meaning not a whole lot going on with them. Posts usually reflect action, and action requires money to be dumped into the car, which most of us don't do.

- considering the production of 968s vs 944s, and comparing the number of good threads on this forum vs the 944 forum, I'd say I'm impressed with this forum.

- Don't forget there is a competitor to this forum, which at the very least means some people post there and not here.

- Jeff is of course very awesome. (Here's a mint green smiley for you, Jeff: ). But in a way his data contributes to the problem IMHO. Now that user x knows his car is rare, he'll keep it stock and special. He might start a thread about how he restored some part of it. User y realizes his car is not special so he sells it and finds a special one. Suddenly the money he saved for jet boosters and 9-speed transmission is spent on the premium, and the name of the game has become 968 collecting and not 968 modding. This means less threads. It's not Jeff's fault! It's just what happens with a rare car.

I understand where you're coming from and I can totally relate. But maybe you can pick nicer words?
