Default Lower Balance Shaft Reseal

Anyone have any experience in resealing the lower balance shaft cover plate with the motor in the car?

No, I think it would be a real PITA to do it with the engine mount. You would literally be turning some bolts 1/6th of a turn at a time. You could make it easier by removing the engine mount but the engine would need to be supported for it.

You can get engine supports for fairly cheap these days. Here's on example:

Once you're holding up the engine and you get all the crap out of the way, the job is easy.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the support bar I have looks almost exactly like the one you attached, except I have the ability to hook up two chains from the bar so that I can tilt the motor on the left or right.

Fully agree that with the motor mount bracket out of the way, the job becomes very easy. Sometimes being lazy actually costs me time.

From the responses to my posts, I am now convinced that I need to drop the engine mount bracket and the 1-4 exhaust header.

Thanks Raj. With support from this and the 968 forum boards, I have convinced myself to pull the motor mount bracket and the 1-4 exhaust header. though a lot of work to get those items off, the re-sealing job then becomes a piece of cake. Should have done it that way the first time around.

And, I do have an engine support bar that sits on top of the engine.

Just need to get on with it and do it!
