Check Engine light comes on and then goes away?
Over the past week, I've seen my Check Engine light come on briefly (just a few seconds) while driving and then shut off on maybe three separate occasions. What would cause the CEL to come on, but not stay on? I've never heard of any such thing. Should I be worried?

It happened to me last year when I was running the car kind of hard. It would come on under hard acceleration and then go away. I changed the fuel filter out and it never came on again. But I also do not think I ran it that hard again. It was also a very hot that day.

I'm there also. Have throttled up hard 2 or 3 times and as engine was approaching redline the check engine lamp would illuminate then disappear. Lots of drive time between episodes. Checked for codes and found none.

Maybe your TPS is bad then.
Are you turning the key all the way to 'run?'
It goes like this:
Start with engine off, feet of pedals.
Turn the key all the way to run (lots of dash lights)
Push the gas pedal all the way to the floor
In 3-5 seconds, the check engine light will flash
Lift off the gas and read the codes.
To clear the codes you keep the pedal down for 11 seconds.
With no codes I get one long and one short blink. It takes a little while for this to happen.

I have to believe that the car would have running issues with a bad TPS.

if it is an early 92, you may not be able to read the code as described. my 968 was the 16th cab, vin 076, and i was not able to read codes this way. there were two different early 92 DMEs and the third ran from 92-95.
