Hey John, any idea who made the vented nose on that S2 cab, and does it really fit as good as the pictures show? It looks awesome...

so what happened with the JA Turbo 968?
any new dyno numbers?
anyone else who tried this conversion?
with lower compression and intercooler it would work fine.

Konstantin,

Trevor had one dyno run, he ran short of fuel, and I sent him an AFPR. During the install, his threads on the fuel rail stripped. At the same time he was doing a few more touch ups to his car. He is shipping the car down to me this weekend to have us install a new clutch, replace the seals in his motor re-work the intake plumbing for the turbo, and then we will set him up on the dyno we use localy and get the big run. We will post the results right after we get the print out.

Since then we have just completed the 944S2 turbo conversion. It is intercooled, and running our MAF kit, we are running larger injectors and an AFPR. This car should be a real runner, we have installed a full coil over suspension, brake upgrade, the turbo conversion, stainless brake lines, etc etc etc...

We used stock 951 parts to do the job, 951 intercooler, 951 intake manifold welded to a 944S2 maniold flange, cross over pipe, and down pipe, along with the stock 951 cat pipe. I'm installing our dual port waste gate and custom boost controller (two settings manual boost controller milled from a sing block of aluminum).

In the meantime, Trevor has put countless miles on his 968 turbo conversion with the only failure being a blown clutch.

We are currently converting a motor to turbo that will run in the Tribute to Le Mans, it will be a 2.8 liter, turbo, map system installed. Infact we will be posting the pictures of the entire build process to the races on this car. YOu will find the video clips, still shots and timeline on our website..this motor will have the ability to put down 500HP at the wheels.

Thats the update :-)

Take Care!

Not quite the same, the same basic design. In fact, it was conceived by Tim and myself late one night at the shop on a napkin. We toyed around with several versions and finally hit on the working device. After I left, Tim made a few changes to the *****, and I pretty much kept to the basic design.

Its funny you bring this up, we are planning a release of the boost controller this spring. We plan to run a few ads in select Porsche Mags to market the controller. Right now, we are making a couple of changes to improve the looks of the front panel.

The internals are proven, we just want to pretty it up a bit.

This is the controller, the ***** are a tad long, but we left them to see how much **** we needed for the adjustments, we want to keep them as close as possible to equal length.

We are now having the controller cnc'd and will begin production in a month. If we are on target, expect to see, the price set at 120.00 plus shipping.

RE:

"Hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but I like the idea of using exhaust gas rather than putting on another belt, which will just rob the engine of power, to generate more power...

Supercharger seems kinda' seems like 2 steps back and then 2 steps forward..."

....

Turbo chargers are not "free HP" like everyone thinks. There's a lot of HP that's lost due to the exhaust back pressure generated by the turbo. This is especially true for a turbo like the KKK K26 hot side (any flavor).

Stick a banana in the exuast pipe of your 968 and see how well the car pulls... (yes this is an exageration... but that's what the car feels like)

My very modified 951 with a much much larger exhaust setup/turbine eliminates a LOT of that back pressure, and feels very much like a N/A car off boost (something you cannot get with a KKK turbo).

Further, I think you would have to drive a supercharged car for really form an educated decision.

My 968, supercharged, feels like a car with a V8 in it. No it doesn't have the wicked top end of a highly modifed 951 (but neither does a 4-5 psi turboed stock 968 engine), but it has a torque curve that will make for a very fast street/short track car.

Superchargers are awesome. The instant power at any rpm, and especially, the full boost off idle make for a car that feels like it has a much larger engine that it really does.

Drive one... better yet... come drive mine! (open invitation).

I drove your 968 on Saturday, Tony... started it up, backed it out of the shop so I could move the cherry picker out to pull the engine from my race car... then I fired it up and drove it back in

Tonny. if you think a Turbo engine do not have low end then you should drive a real factory 968 Turbo S. Even at 2000 rpm an OFF boost it pulls like a 951 at full bost at 4500 rpm.

can you say throttle response?
can you say HUGE low torque?

Tony's car has been dynoed at low boosts - 3psi and 4.7 psi - where it made almost 270 HP with a flat torque curve (the dyno chart is in the "Huntley Racing Supercharger - now at 4.7 psi" thread. HR is waiting on a bigger (5 - 6 psi) pulley to complete the kit... if you're interested in all this, there is a thread at www.968.net where some other supercharged 968's (including Tony) are going to be having a 'dyno competition' at a neutral dyno... should be interesting.

Yes, the most important part is,"Neutral turf". I question some of the dyno results, so I want to verify them and so does everyone else on 968.net.
The great things about it is that both Tony and Eric are being good sports about it. We are trying to convince Trevor to test his Anderson Motorworks turbo system as well the same day on the same dyno. Tevor is not willing to go past 3psi, what a Pu$$, lol. Just kidding.

Who are you Raj, to say that you're 'trying to convince' me? You haven't tried **** but make one post on 968.net to which I replied that MY CAR WAS DYNOED AT AN INDEPENDENT SHOP BACK IN SEPTEMBER...and that I'm 500 miles away from these other folks with a job that consumes 70 hours of my week.

BTW, where's your dyno chart? It's been months since you said you'd do it and still no dyno, don't play puppetmaster with us...

Hmmm, Puppetmaster, lol with "US". I didn't know you had a consortium of people with these concerns.
In either case, forgive me for ever using your name. It will never happen again.
