Short Shift Kit for 968
Does anybody know if there is a short-shift kit for the 968 6-speed?
I'm buying a '95 968 Coupe and would love to have that short "snick" I had with my '89 944 Turbo short-shift.
Thanks

Koekeln makes a short shift kit for the 968 ($175) (you can buy it from Lindsey Racing) - http://www.lindseyracing.com
Also Speed Force Racing's Shortshift kit is said to work well with the 968. ($100) http://www.speedforceracing.com

I just bought one from Dave Harrington for my 951, and it will fit a 968 too... Check out his web page...

I just got it installed, but haven't driven w/it yet- it allowed me to use my Momo ****- I ordered a new shift boot from a 944NA so that I wouldn't have to cut up the original ****- plus, the old boot was pretty worn... I'm not sure if the 968 has a one-piece unit like the 951 or not, but, anyway, Dave can make a kit for you- I believe it's still $75 too...

Who makes a good 968-specific short shift kit that is not just a sawed off shifter? I know this has been discussed before, but I don't know if there's been a definitive answer.

I believe the shift throws are shortened though to what degree depends on design/brand. I bought a Eurocup GT one that I've yet to install. I'll post my feedback when i get to it later this month. Not really a fan of the sawed or shortened shifter personally.

Just checking in for a friend who has a 968. Is there a good Short Shift Kit that shortens the throws, without just sawing off the shifter. Also, is there a good way to tighten the shifts. He said his has more play than it should. Perhaps some bushings that should be replaced or shims that should be put in somewhere? How can we can we get my friend’s 968 to shift like a dream? Thanks!

Yes, would love to know who makes a good short shift kit for the 6 speed 968. I know of a guy who make a "bang-up" one for the 928-yes pun intended.
I do not see how a kit for the 5 speed 951 or 944 would work with the 6 speed in the 968.

I had Bill Radar make a brace replacement to the nylon linkage above the transmission. Now that he has done mine, he knows how to make it. This does not make the shift short and doesn't change geometry at all, but it makes the shifter both super smooth and there is almost no slop. I think this is the best shifting solution for a 968. If you really want short, you can put in a short shift kit too. Bill Radar Motorsports in Las Vegas. If you call him, use my name so he will know what you want. (John Isaacs)

The Euro GT kit allows for use with the stock shift ****. Other kits usually require the purchase of a non-OEM shift **** consequently increasing the overall cost of a short shift in installation. I am satisfied with the Euro GT kit which I installed last year.
