- CF sunroof or just weld in a sunroof delete
- Lexan windscreen, quarter windows, hatch
- Lexan side windows with power window delete if it's just going to be a race car, otherwise it's really not worth it, I think
- Should probably find out how much the wing on the hatch weighs, if it's a lot then you might be able to save meaningful weight with a CF wing
- Lighter, manual side mirrors
- And of course don't forget that wheels are the single most important source of weight reduction, because they're both unsprung and rotational...

Oh...and not that it's a simple bolt-on carbon panel...but have you lifted a 968 headlight motor lately? They're heavy, and in the very worst place possible...so you might want to look into replacing them with a pair of fixed halogen projectors under simple fixed Lexan covers...although you might discover that the electronics will **** a brick if they don't sense the motor moving...

Does anyone know of a place to get a CF hood. My hood could use new paint anyway so I was thinking of going to that option. There was a fiberglass 968 hood on Ebay a while back, would that be a good way to go? Also I think the rear upper seat delete is the easiest way to save a lot of weight. Easy to take out and put back in. The bottom seat pad weighs only about 5 lbs so it is not worth scewing with, and at least you can still have someone sit back there if need be.

GT racing is the only source I know of for fiberglass or CF body panels for the 968. I think user "Future" is dabbling in body panels now though so send him a PM. He's in England too.

Clean off the undercoating from the underside of the fenders, and they aren't far off from the weight of composite panels, and they generally fit better and are stronger. Likewise, the hood isn't that big of a problem, weightwise.
If you go by what GT Racing says in their catalog, you'll think you will be saving a ton of weight, but reality tends to show that they are rather optimistic. While ounces do indeed add up to lbs, there's a lot to be said for usability. In an all out race car, GT Racing stuff works well (and will indeed save you weight), but I do not believe they intend their products to be used for street cars.
