I am looking for a Porsche CD-2 CD Player/Radio. Mine is dead(CD Section) and I want to replace it with a working unit. CD player must work and prefer a nice looking piece. I will need the code too. It will go to a good home, I promise.
Mike,
I'm glad you mentioned "the code" in your post because you will need it. I picked up a real nice CD2 on eBay. It powers up great and says "code". Unfortunately, I don't have the code. I tried the seller, nothing. Then Porsche and they have a code of 4393 but I have no preset button to reflect a 9. They sent me to Alpine who was no help at all. So i have a nice paperweight. Make sure you get that code and that it is the correct code too.

I have a CD-2 that has a defective CD section. Would you be interested in selling or donating yours so I can make my unit work. The unit I have has a good code just not a working CD player. I am an electronics person so I should be able to do the CD section switch without much difficulty.
Odd, I have the exact same problem. I bypassed it by hooking up a 3.5mm jack so I can use an MP3 player instead of the CD player, which I have to admit I like better.
It would be nice to at least have the ability to play CDs though...how would you go about repairing that malfunction?

Jeff, try this guy. He put in a killer stereo for me years ago, has been a long term Excellence and Pano advertiser, and probably could figure this out for you. (Forgive me if I pm'd you this info when you were looking earlier).
Damian,
You did give me his name and he couldn't help me. I haven't totally given up on getting the unit going. The original seller is "still looking" for the code but I'm not optimistic.
Thanks anyway,
Jeff

How long would a brute force attack take? Maybe dedicate a few hours to it each weekend? Pay the neighborhood kids $10 for every thousand numbers they get through?

In some of the porsceh radio,s including all of hte becker units, the code is entered by using the prest numbers in a different fashion.
i.e., 1234 would be entere by pushing #1 1 time, #2 2 times, #3 3 times, #4 4 times.
A "9" would be the the location pushed 9 times.
If you can post a pic of the radio I can let you know if it's one of ours and that code would be entered that way.

Thanks Curt but I've tried many of those with no luck. Multiple Porsche dealers have told me my code is 4393 but that can't be right. I've tried Alpine and other service areas. the seller was hoping to get me the code but hopefully rader (Porsche fan) may be able to help me. We'll see.

They must be entering the serial number incorrectly. It should be a 5-digit unlock code, not 4. I have seen some radios with the security code on a tag on the radio (my Becker came like this) that is supposed to be removed after installation. I'd pull the radio and look it over for either something written on the chassis or a tag.
