My coupe registry has progressed far enough so that I can share the data with you on the Speed Yellow coupes. It turns out they are rarer then the cabs with only 8 produced (compared to 10 for the cabs). Below are the details which i'm sure you will find interesting:

There were:
8 Speed Yellow coupes built for the North American market
3 1994s (94.5s actually, true 94s, non-718 cars)
5 1995s (4 718 cars, 1 true 95)
8 were 6 speeds
7 had code LT black partial leather interior
1 had code PJ marble gray/black partial leather interior
8 had 595 painted rear spoiler (all of them)
3 were M030 sport chassis cars

Unlike the SY cabs, most of the coupes were well optioned:
SYCP #1 – 94 – M030 (includes 17” wheels), painted rear spoiler, NO limited slip
SYCP #2 – 94 – limited slip, 17” wheels, painted rear spoiler
SYCP #3 – 94 – painted rear spoiler
SYCP #4 – 95 - limited slip, 17” wheels, painted rear spoiler
SYCP #5 – 95 – M030 (includes 17” wheels), limited slip, dual heated seats, dual 8-way full power seats, painted crest center caps, hi-fi sound speakers, painted rear spoiler
SYCP #6 – 95 – limited slip, dual heated seats, dual 8-way full power seats, painted crest center caps, hi-fi sound speakers, painted rear spoiler
SYCP #7 – 95 – M030 (includes 17” wheels), limited slip, sport seats, painted rear spoiler, alternate color leather shifter knob
SYCP #8 – 95 – limited slip, painted crest center caps, sport seats, hi-fi sound speakers, painted rear spoiler, CD changer

Jeff

I'm happy to have 'reoptioned' mine with a nice mix of genuine and improved Porsche parts. These are great, and rare cars.

I believe #6 resides in north Florida as saw it at the dealership in Mobile, AL a few months ago talked to the owner to find he is the original owner and car has around 40,000 miles and looks as new. it did not have sport seats but has the hi fi stereo and painted spoiler and was a 95.

Jeff, what are the factory option codes for the Summer Yellow Coupe?

I presume that was the only other Yellow 968? Or did you come up with any others? 19 Yellow cars total?

Dino,
Well, I'm not totally done with the coupe registry and the color to sample cars could be anything. That said, so far I only have 1 color to sample solid paint color car and that is the summer yellow car. It is a strange one. Here are the details:

#2,233 of 2,234 full run
#258 of 259 1995s
Paint code 98 - color to sample solid
LC partial leather - Cashmere black!!!
220 Limited slip
437 full power driver's seat
694 CD player
No center console lid or cassette holder (1 of 16)
No 17"s

I'm thinking that the summer yellow is more of a mustard yellow and might look better with the cashmere interior then speed yellow would.

summer yellow is more pastel and faded, it's lighter than SY.

Thank you Jeff.

odb812, The i believe the 968 is a 1970's shade of summer yellow which is a little diff. then the summer yellow on that 951. I recall this being brought up in a discussion about the car on the other forum.

Jeff,
I really appreciate everything you've done for the 968 registry. It's phenomenal that someone out there besides the factory can actually give owners a clue about how rare their car actually is.

Thanks and no problem, I enjoy it. And the sad part, the factory won't even give you this data because they are just old models. But some of us like them a lot.

I just got back from looking at my car again. It's at a different Porsche shop getting an alignment and some general maintenance done. I took another look at the transmission and again confirmed it has an LSD. I asked the mechanic if it was possible to tell if it was a motorsports tranny and he commented that the cooling fins looked bigger than the ones on other 968's he has worked on. Does anyone have a picture of their tranny's I could use for comparison? I'll take some pictures of the underside of mine and post them for comparison.

Here is mine now on OEM 17" Cups...I only know of mine, 1 other turbo and then 1 n/a in summer yellow...if only Porsche would be more helpful of production numbers...the one Todd posted above is not mine...
