Damian, good memory, I hope to see you in the Hershey area if are attending the Swap Meet - would love to catch up with you.

Raj, as you know, I hosted 7 968 Events in Hershey:
2001 - 968 Get Together (1 day event - only award was farthest distance)
2002 - 968 Celebration (2 day event, sponsored by PCA Central PA Region with Wash-n-Shine Judging by PCA, Tech Quiz, Tech Session and 2 dinners)
2003 thru 2004 - 968 Celebrations (2 day events expanded award categories to 12, tech quiz, tech sessions, 2 dinners)
2005 and 2006 - took a break and 968 Gatherings were hosted by Cosimo and Randi and Jay and Pete (Reston and Newtown)
2007 - 968 Celebration (2 days with all the normal Celebration activities)
2008 & 2009 - 968 Gatherings (2 days but dropped the Wash-n-shine competition and tech quiz but kept the Tech Session)

In my mind there are 3 types of 968 events; a 968 Get-Together (1 day, everybody drives in and goes home that night), a 968 Gathering (2 day, with no wash n shine contest, no tech quiz and no PCA speaker but keep the Tech Session and 968 Caravan to/from the Swap Meet) and the big one, the 968 Celebration (2 days, wash-n-shine Concours with 12 awards, tech session, 968 Caravans, etc sponsored by the local PCA Region).

Bottom line, this year's 968 Gathering gives us all an opportunity to again see the 150 plus 968 owners who have attended previous 968 Get-Togethers, Gatherings and Celebrations and catch up with them.
The Central PA Region Swap Meet is a perfect venue to have the 968 guys and gals meet, whether the 968 Event is sanctioned/sponsored by PCA or is a private event, as it is this year.

Raj, I hope to see you in Hershey and hope you change your mind (even if you only come for the Swap Meet.

We had 39 968s parked in the Swap Meet Concours area and it was a beautiful sight, not to mention the 968 Caravan!

So, whether you like a casual, relaxed atmosphere (no wash-n-shine competition & awards, no tech quiz, etc) or a fast-paced event fully sanctioned/sponsored by PCA, this is your chance to see a bunch of beautiful 968s (original and modified) and meet some great owners.

Another incentive to go to the Hershey Swap Meet is Jerry Seinfeld likes this event and has attended most of them.

If you are planning to go to Hershey for the Swap Meet, please drop by the Concours area where I will be working this year as Co Host. No, I cannot ensure you win the top award but will do my best to get you a good parking area.

Central PA Region is expecting a large turnout again with beautiful weather!

We're looking forward to making it this year, the Hershey swap meet was a deciding factor on moving to the East coast from Texas!

Aaron, are you able to bring both beauties to the Swap Meet or just one? Is it possible that your 968 Cabriolet is the one with the custom lambo doors. Fellow (I believe his name was Jeff S.) that owned that car attended a 968 event in Newtown, PA and last I heard he was selling the car.

Look forward to meeting you at the Swap Meet.

Don,
Right now we're definitely going to bring the 968 and will bring the 951 if we can complete the engine install and break-in before then. Fortunately, our 968 is still completely stock save for the chrome boxster wheels. We're hoping to replace them with some cup 1s if we can find them for a decent price. The other Cassis Red Metallic 968 cab sold not too long ago in WA, believe it's currently in CA now. We bought ours last July from the second owners in Hanover, PA.

Our intent is to keep the 968 stock and modify the 951 for more power and better driveability.

Default Parking

Just so everyone knows, based on input from previous attendies the event staff has decided not to enter everyone in the 924/944/968/928 concours by default (saving you $10). However, we have secured a 968 group parking area. I am not sure where that will be, especially in relation to the concours (we'll know that when we get there based on the parking planner's decision), but it will be a large group of your fellow 968ers. It will cost you $10 to park with us. You can either join the group coming from the hotel (pay Jim at the hotel and leaving by 8:00am Saturday) or meet the group at the event (pay your own $10 and find the group, we should have room for you to join us). If you want to enter the concours it will cost you another $10 and you would park in the concours area with the other concours 924/944/968/928s. I'll be looking for a head count of cars planning to attend in a few weeks.
Thanks
Jeff

It may be possible to park closer to the Concours area so that anyone attending will be able to compete and win a Central Pa Region Concours trophy. As Concours Co-Host, will be meeting early April and hope to be able to park the 968s close to the Concours area, as in former years.

Last year all 968s parked in Concours area and paid the extra $10 so we could be together. This year, I understand all 968s will be parked in 968 Parking area, with option of parking in the Concours area and paying the extra $10 but probably not being close to the 968 Group. Will let you know if I am able to get the 968 Group parking close to the Concours area or not.

As per my conversation with Steve, who is handling the parking, our location will be based on our group size and we are doing the headcount during the week of 4/11. Close to concours area or not, what is most important is that the 968 group will be together. We are going to have our own 968-owner's-choice award as well. It is a large venue, no matter where we are we'll be fine. Now, lets hope for good weather!!!

Jeff et al, We'll definitely be parking the 968 with all the rest, and it looks like unless CEP comes through with a miracle, we won't be bringing the 951 this year. Pray that he gets some more fuel rails in stock in the next 2 weeks!

Pitou, do not be jealous - just book a flight - lol!

In 2007, we had 3 968 owners from Germany and last year a 968 owner joined us from Hungary!

The Swap Meet does draw from all over the world, plus all those nice 968 guys and gals!

Don't forget, be at the hotel by 8 if you want to join the caravan, otherwise, look for the big group of 968s at the event. You won't miss them.
Jeff
