Default 968 antenna problem

Guys,

I have a problem with my radio. Seems like can't get a good signal from my back antenna. I don't have antenna in the windshield.
Is it a common issue with these cars..?

Tx

The windshield antennas also have a booster that needs to be powered from the head unit or you get poor reception. This wire runs along with the antenna coax and gets left unconnected in many aftermarket installs. If the rear antenna also uses this booster yours might not be hooked up.

Yes, the 'bee sting' antenna has a booster in it. Had the same problem. Bought a new antenna. I think the antenna in the windshield is for the cab, maybe they decided to only make one type of windshield and use it for both.

Say...wouldn't a modern VW bee sting antenna work fine? and be easier and cheaper to source? Has anyone done this?

Yes, its the same VW antenna but I agree the problem is probably a disconnected booster.

I have the same problem after my new Blaupunkt was installed. Where exactly is the booster so that I can check to see if its disconnected?
Thanks, Jon
