You all know what it is. If you don't need it or don't like his use of words,
don't buy it.
You could send him a message thru eBay and let him know
how much this really bothered you guys.....

the seller is just looking to get more hits on this auction. He is having a tuff time selling the manifold. i don't think anyone bidding will think its a RUF manifold. If anyone does, i'm sure they will ask the seller questions and quickly figure out that its just a standard 968 mnfiold painted red.
starting a thread and crying about this is over the top & ridiculous imho.

Oh, and he has 7 or 8 other ebay Porsche part listings, all having RUF in the subject line. The 993 he's selling, though, doesn't.
And I don't think Rader is a bad guy, but I think he made a bad decision to add the famous name of RUF to a part that never was used on a RUF, or modified by them.
Just sayin. I guess I have to disagree with a few people here, not for the first time.

I looked at the auction and disregarded the RUF in the title as the manifold is a stock OEM unit that has been powdercoated red. If you bought it thinking its a RUF manifold for a 968, I'd have to expect that you contacted RUF and asked them if they ever produced such an item. Of course the answer would be "Nein". Thats no and not "9".
There is plenty of dubious hook words in ebay auctions and this is just one of them.
As I mentioned, I bought his OEM Cup style wheels, after lots of questions and confirmation of part #'s. He knew what wheels he had and also knew how rare a straight set were, in the correct offsets.
So, I'd have to say that he was(and is) a stand up guy and is honest and open in his dealings.
ebay is a casino, you make your bet and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. There is no substitue for the informed buyer with research and questions.
my 2cents.

Think it out further; he may be wanting to widen the appeal by adding RUF for search reasons, but anyone LOOKING for RUF parts won't give a hoot about this part because IT"S NOT RUF! So why do it?

All I did was ask a question, how is that crying, being over the top, and ridiculous? I still think it's misleading, because maybe someone who doesn't know our cars well will fall for it and overpay. My ethical standards are such-I don't mislead with incorrect information. Whenever I've bought or sold anything to the community I pay immediately, and ship the same day I cash the check if I'm the seller.
.
.
i dont think anyone is being mislead. Like i said, the seller is just trying to get more hits. No where in the discription does he state its a RUF Manifold.
Most 968 owners are enthusiasts and would know better anyway. Outside of that, if you buy a product off ebay and dont do your reserach or ask questions.....well, then you deserve to be conned. Just my 2 cents, you can agree to disagree.
The seller is an awesome seller who sells top quality items. I don't think anyone here is mislead, and niether were you. Hence you starting this thread is silly. If i were the seller, i would have likely done the same.

But it does not. It reads
"Genuine Porsche 968 Throttle body & intake manifold ruf"
the way i see it, its pretty obvious why ruf was added to the end of the title. And like i said, most 968 owners are enthusiasts and would not be mislead. The ones who are mislead should ask questions like any educated consumer would. If you dont ask, and end up buying a manifold for your car thinking its somthing else......well you have no one to blame but yourself imho.

Since, AFAIK, Ruf never produced parts/tuning for a 968
and
Assuming the individual selling the part on eBay knows this
then
How do you defend the use of the term Ruf in the title?
What would the difference be between this and putting 'PMNA' in its place?
Again, it was obviously put there for a reason, one which I don't agree with.
