Question Mystery connections on Engine harness

Two spare connectors on my 968 Engine harness (in a 944S2). One is no doubt the variocam solenoid, but what's the other one for and which is which? See the attached photos...

The brown connector is for the oil temp sender in the 968 head, it has direct connection to where (rpm) the variocam kicks in.

Question RE: mystery connectors...

So, in short there is no respective mate on a 944S2 head for that connector?

Yea thats the one. Air cooled 911's used them to turn on the fans when the oil temp got too hot hence the 964 part #

I always wondered what that sensor was. Can the car run normally without it or is it gauge related? Just curious.

Well, since my 944S2 doesn't have a variocam, I'll just throw some duct tape over those and tuck 'em out of the way.

Ahhhhaaaaa so if the variocam does not work, it could very well be this sensor. I wonder if it throws a code when failing. Hmmmm something to look into for the people questioning their variocam is still working.

No code is thrown......... You need to have a Bosch Hammer to figure out exactly what is wrong to track down vario-cam problems
