Maybe it's time to buy a 968 tiptronic because these prices are insane - here's the 3rd tip I've seen listed for $5k or less. This has gotta be the best car in the world for $4900:

Who has the cheapest flights to houston? No just kidding, I hate that color. Maybe in person it's a lot nicer. Well that's just my excuse for not having $4900 right now. If I did, I'd just buy it and deal with the color later.

By two-stage, do you mean it has clear coat?

I love the color, I just don't need another car... unless its a Horizon Blue coupe at a reasonable price.

Scott, would you consider a reasonably priced HB coupe if it were a tiptronic? I don't know of one, I'm just curious.

HELL yes! Especially if I were planning on turboing one, as you can add the 993 paddle shift steering wheel to it. Make it Horizon Blue (yes, I know I sound like a broken record... lol), make sure you put a new flex plate in it and you've got my ultimate hotrod. Manual shifting is way over-rated, imo. I am not Mario or Michael, and am positive the 968 tip can shift faster than I can.

Oh, so you'd actually prefer a tip over a manual. Interesting! Well I suppose you approach the problem of poor gear ratios from a different angle. While most people think the solution to the slowness of the tip is to add more gears and control the shifting, your approach is to add hundreds of horsepower. I like it! <Tim Allen grunt>

Arash, Isn't that the same color as your 968?( presuming the 968 photo on your
thread is yours.)
Scott, what do you mean by reasonable price? $4900 is far reasonable and a
no brainer insane price. Someone should grab it now before the seller change
his mind.

But that's not the part that sucks about it...Tiptronic is a 4 speed w/ tall *** gears = slooow!

I'd only get a tiptronic with the intention of converting to manual gearbox. So let's imagine $5k for a 968 Tip, $3k for 6 speed gearbox, $2k for various clutch assembly, torque tube, hydraulics, gauges, etc so that's a $10k 968 assuming ZERO market for Tiptronic take-off parts. What's the value of a 968 Tiptronic trans, torque tube, etc?? I think this is the key to making the resulting conversion a cheap proposition!

Wow -- and I go to Houston all the time to see in-laws. $5k is incredibly cheap! Maybe I can convince my wife that my 8-month old daughter needs her own 968....

944Sknight, I was referring to a Horizon Blue coupe that I was recently pursuing but the seller wasn't budging off a $20k asking price, not the one listed in the ad. Yes, $4900 is super cheap, imo and someone should snap that up. I am tempted myself, but I just bought an older Harley and my wife would KILL me. lol

I still think a turbo'd tip would be killer.

Wow. A 968 for $3450? This is incredibly insane. It seems that this is from a used car dealer since some
kind of financing is also offered.

seems as though a lot of people are icking up 968's for dirt nowadays. a 968forums member recently bought a '93 6-Speed Coupe with 91K Miles for $1,200. Was missing the hatch.
