Default Question: Threaded Hole in Intake Manifold / Head

As I was checking my oil yesterday I noticed a hole below the intake manifold, between the 2nd and 3rd cylinders, and there is fresh oil around it and the hole itself is threaded, which tells me there should be something there... I ran the engine and worked the throttle and no noises or oil were detected.

Is there in fact something that is supposed to go here? I tried to search, and read something about a sensor, but I wanted to ask the great online community before I took it to the mechanic ($$$). Although he just did my cam tensioners so I wonder if he forgot to replace something, even though it looks like he should not have removed this part of the engine to do that job.

See attached image for reference.

I just checked my coupe and I have an open threaded relief there as well. I had a problem with the crush washer on the oil temp sensor for the head (the plug above the 3rd intake port) and that gave me oil seepage in that area.

Thanks Steve. So if I understand correctly, the threaded relief is not the same as the oil temp sensor? Anyone have pictures of all of this?

Thanks again!

I've seen that hole in my heads too... maybe that's where mystical "bolt-on horsepower" bolts onto.

Gentleman,

The plug I'm talking about is visible in your pic, it's the black plug right by the cam cover in front of the 3rd runner of the intake ports.

Thank you for the help everyone. I was worried about the oil there, so I will check the plug to make sure nothing is leaking Steve.
