Jason,

Here is Karl's ad from Feb 2003. It was a custom made R&P. As Karl noted in the ad "aftermarket R&P for 968's DO NOT EXIST".

Parts from racecar:
- 8/37 Ring and Pinion, Custom made for 968 6 speed. 4.625 ratio (factory was 3.778) improves acceleration tremendously (aftermarket R&Ps for 968s do not exist). If your pinion bearing needs to be fixed, why not make the car really quick at the same time. $3400
- Lightweight Flywheel, pressure plate and clutch disk (all 2 hours use). Call for pricing.
- Custom Horsepower chip from Firehawk 968. Can show dyno sheet before and after with approx 10 hp gain. Boosts rev limit to 7200 rpm. $400
Please contact Karl at 865-966-0842 or kpoeltl@chartertn.net. 02/03.

So, I guess that makes my gears even MORE worthwhile then.

Oh well...

So, I guess that makes Karl's the first after market R&P...So, THEY DO EXIST...at least one does!

Jason,

I didn't expect an apology.

I know that you like to help. But, there's no "help" in a potential "goose chase" for something that just doesn't exist.

I've found that if I'm uncertain or I don't know the answer to a question there's no harm in saying, "I don't know".

Richard,

IF you read my post, I said that a R&P was available...and that Karl from Racer's Edge has/had one. I was trying to help him out with a possible source for a unit. The lister could have contacted Karl to see if it was still available. If Karl didn't have it, maybe he could point this person to the company that made it for him.

You, yourself, mentioned the ad that Karl had posted about the custom/aftermarket R&P he had for his 968.

Jeez, isn't that the definition of an "aftermarket" part...something that is custom made because it's no longer available/ or never was available as an OEM piece?

I've found that if I'm uncertain or I don't know the answer to a question there's no harm in saying, "I don't know".

Get a grip, and stop sounding so condescending. It's not a matter of semantics. It is a part for a car...that somebody had, and that somebody else may have been unaware of and possibly been interested in!
