Exclamation OEM 968 Club Sport Steering Wheels

Hi all

We are just about to place an order from the manufacture who made and still today makes steering wheels for Porsche.

The ones we are ordering are the OEM Club Sport ones so if anybody is interested in getting one of these then let me know.

I will have the price tomorrow confirmed.

Here is the exact picture of what we are buying for our stock:

Please note this is not a fake but the genuine thing. We are not able to be supplied with the porsche embossed center leather but you can get these cheap through the dealer network and again we will get a price on these

We can get them in all the OEM porsche colour and they will be cheaper than you can get anywhere else

Sorry, I'm still up in the air on this or using the 996 wheel. Certainly like this wheel better but somewhat prefer the airbag with the 996 wheel.

Yes I do agree that safety is first But I wouldn't want a 15 year old airbag going off in my face in the event of an incident hence why I'm ripping mine out

LOL That's why I was considering the alternative 996 wheel so at least it's only max 10 years old.

The CS is the nicer feeling wheel, but the 996 wheel is pretty trick, and still feels really good, and is wayyyy better than the OEM truck wheel!

Speedbump - That's one of the BEST statements I have every read on RL and had me literally rolling on the floor!!!

Stephenwz968 - Your 996 wheel is simply fantastic and I loved your install write-up and for all Cab owners this is DEFINATELY the way forwards as it is also for all street driver - excellent job mate and this has updated your interior no end - PS what are those seats fitted???

Did you know we can get the proper replica 968 CS buckets mate and they are not expensive... I'll post some pictures later. They are fully approved and look identical to the OEM at a fraction of the price (Beni has them in his car)

Uscarrera – Yes I will get the prices tomorrow and they come complete with the hub mate which we can do for 944, 968, 964 & 993 plus the Shark the the heavy weight Porker owner

Best regards,
Mark

I might be interested in the 968 CS buckets. Do they have the same build quality and fit? Definitely interested to hear the cost. Great work guys!

Agreed and your car is he reason I was thinking of the 996 version instead of the CS I had decided on.

I'm interested. I'd prefer a horn pad with the Porsche crest, but it's not a deal breaker for me if the price is right.

You could rip the crest off a key fob and stick it on the wheel. Or various other more straightforward approaches.

I'm interested and waiting for the price.

In my humble opinion, I think the CS wheel looks WAY outdated and severely lacking in looks for the 968. I would expect to see that wheel on a '79 911SC, 930, early 944, or *gasp* a 924!

I have seen Stephen's 996 3-spoker in person and it looks "right" for the 968. Not ricey, but then again not 80's-ish like the CS wheel. Again, just my opinion... I also would do a 993/boxster 4-spoker over the CS any day.

Regarding airbags, if you don't want to worry about an old bag accidentally inflating, just disconnect the leads on the back, do the resistor trick to prevent the idiot lights, and off you go. Also, IIRC, car manufacturers spec somewhere around 8-10 years as the "life expectancy" of an airbag. In other words, they recommend replacement around that time.

Oh yeah-

Also subscribing to learn more about the CS seat replicas- if they are just the Recaro pole positions, path is clear. If the reps are some other manufacturer complete with the molded "ribs" on the hardback like the original CS seats, I am very interested.

I disagree with that one, I much prefer the looks of the CS.

I raced my 968CS for the last 6 years, sold the car, and the club sport wheel that was on it was the most comfortable wheel I have ever used. It just fit my hands perfectly, I am interested in getting one in case I buy or build another 968 race car.
