Mark and I are currently in the process of completely stripping our 968 project car and one of the last items we have not completed yet is the removal of the rear side windows...
Can anybody explain how they are fitted and how you have removed them without damaging?
Will post some pics of the other progress later...
Are they the same as the 944? I think you are supposed to put string around the gasket and pull the string and gasket away from the interior of the car while pushing against the glass.

You only need to string when your putting the windows back in. Otherwise just have someone outside the glass to help pull it out and catch it, while you are on the inside pulling the gasket down and out while pushing on the glass carefully.
Not sure on the 968, they might be glued in as already mentioned.
Easy to do with two people. One gets in the back of the car without shoes on and pushes the window out with his feet. The other catches the window, or tries to. A suction cup, perhaps a toilet plunger, would help.
Definitely glued in like the windshield and need to be cut out (that is, the urethane glue) with either a bodyshops oscillating cutter or a piano wire.
thanks all for the responce to beni's post ... over the last two days we have completely stripped the shell and today i put the first coats of primer on it and now the car looks great
Tomorrow we will add the top coat in maritime blue so as soon as i get back to the uk i will post all the pictures.
we have also discovered a lot of rust on the underside of the roof which will be getting dealt with in the morning
and yes raj was right the rear side windows are glued in and a real pain in the **** to get out!
