Default DYI Kickpanels?

Has anyone made their own kickpanels, perhaps out of sheetmetal or plastic? The carpeting in mine is too frayed to get back under the door seal, particularly on the driver side, so I'm thinking about making my own.

And BTW, what color is this interior? It looks like it's grey, but pinkish?

Usually its just that fabric part that starts falling apart. You could easily just take out that carpet piece and have an interior shop sew a new strip of fabric on the edge.

My guess on color is classic gray that has discolored over the years.

Age? Well, it's a 16-year-old car, but it's spent its life in a heated garage. The whole interior has that rosy look to it.

As for the kick panels, I have size 15 flippers, so I don't think I'd prefer something solid rather than cloth or carpet.

Could be an amethyst (sp?) interior.

Looks like cobalt blue with classic gray interior.

There are aftermarket driver side floor mats available with a kick panel that attaches with velcro at the top, or you can have one made that way.

If you give that carpet and padding a good shampoo and scrubbing and it will improve considerably.

I'll ask the shop to run the VIN tomorrow and tell me. I'm pretty sure my mother ordered it to her liking and waited for it to be made for her. I can envision her ordering a Cobalt Blue car with Amethyst interior.

While typing this, I just looked up "amethyst" on Wikipedia. Bingo. There's definitely a pinkish tint to the grey on every panel and piece of carpet in the car.

Will see what the dealer tells me tomorrow.

Also....so, just fixing it with a strip of grey duct-tape would be really, really wrong. Right?
