Why did you choose a 968 over other sports cars?

The Z is a great drivers car, but you definitely notice its weight. But it also has much more features and gadgets than any Porsche, save a Cayenne. The short wheelbase and the large 19" wheels make it quite a handler, but it is much less nimble at low speeds. The biggest surprise to me was the difference in braking, as I "tested" it out in the same manner I have the 968, although I could have been traveling much faster when I performed the maneuver in the Z...
To Chris, I agree neither of those cars are better performers than the 968, I just have a lot of JDM fans as friends so they like to look down upon my P-car. I just think they are jealous...

I have some mixed feelings on the Z vs 968 comparisons. My wife has a new 350Z and I have had it on the track along with my 968 and 951 numerous times. The little Z falls in the middle on performance. It feels easier to drive and sticks very well to the track. That being said I was faster in the Z and the 951. All things equal at the time the 951 was a modified monster capable of reaching 175 in the straights and the 968 was stock.
Ride wise the 968 is by far the most comfortable.
The Z's biggest draw back is brakes. After a session they would smoke for 10 mins and you had to change out the fluid. The 968 NEVER faded. Hats of to Porsche-Even after all these years the 968 can still compete with newer sports car technologies..- Mike

OK, so I'll make the trip all the way to Hershey to meet some gals. Sounds like a sound idea to me.
I too have had many opportunities and some temptation to switch it up for a different model, like a 911 SC or 3.2, a 944, or a 928. I believe the 968 works best for me because it is the most reliable, and has the most cargo space, and is easiest to work on, and all-in-all is a good performer. It's got it all, really. Except a turbo, but I'm working on that.
I'd been especially tempted by 911s but since my dad got our first 911 last April, and now is on his 3rd, I see it just would not work for me. Mainly because they are more expensive and/or much older, but also they have no usable trunk.

I find it interesting that most no one purchased their 968 because of the low production #s and the uniqueness. I purchased my 95 cab purely because it was something different and somewhat rare. My car still turns heads simply because of that reason. Having a 25 grand cash budget I look at all of the 911's ( even test drove a Boxter
) out there and not a single one turned me on. Please do not get me wrong I have owned 6 other Porsches in the past 20 years and this is my first front engine car. When I purshased my cab four years ago I knew that it was going to be in many cases the first time anybody had seen a 968, and still is. "Not being one who like to be part of the herd"
. Just today here in tiny Savannah I bet a saw 10 Boxters and 15- 911s and not a single Blk/Blk 95-968 Cab.
