Default R&P ratio

PET lists two ring and pinion ratios under the same part number, 3.44 and 3.78. Anyone know if there are indeed two R&P gearsets available and if so, which ones came on which cars?

One may be tiptronic. I think the tiptronic has a lower shorter ratio. (3.44)

Both of these are listed under the manual tranny section with the same part number.

Hmmm, my pet shows only the 3.44 listed. They list it as 31:9. If this is this ration of the six speed, 3.44 then all my speed calcs are wrong. I wonder if the taller (3.77) ratio was for the CS and/or Turbo S? Anyone know the anwer to this one. The 3.44 would be nice. If that is the case, at 7200 we can hit 202.5 mph.

What version of PET are you using? Mine is 6.03.

Turbo S parts weren't listed in PET.

Here is the gearing chart for the 968 with a 3.44 ring and pinion ratio.

Based on more evidence of the 3.78, I'm guessing that's probably it. I've known PET to be wrong before, so it might just be a mistake with the 3.44.

WOW - this is a great thread.
I just started a thread about this in the forum and FR told me about this.

CHRIS - I am AGGRESSIVELY looking to do highly modified 968 transaxle.
I want to do a higher R&P and dog ring engagement.
I would like to talk to you about (even if you only want the 3.44) these things.

Has anyone talked to Powerhaus II about these transaxles and the custom gearing on a rebuild?

I just PMed ST a link to Paul Guard. He does custom gear sets also. I've talked with him before and he's a good guy and very knowledgeable.

I'm interested in a lower ratio r&p. If someone is going to be building some, someone please keep me in the loop!
