Default Need stereo advice

Soon, I'll be putting my 968 back together after it's painted. I thought we had it done, but out in sunlight today this Cobalt Blue Metallic color came out kind of blotchy looking, so we're painting it again!

I want to put in a head unit with the following capabilities: Bluetooth, iPod, and Sirius satellite; and the following features: 4-channel amp built-in, subwoofer output (to separate amp). I don't care one way or another about CD's anymore; if the receiver has it, fine, if not, fine.

I also would appreciate advice on replacing all the OEM speakers, or at least the rear ones. What sizes are they, anyway? Crutchfield doesn't list them for a 968.

I plan to buy one of those KLA subwoofer enclosures, hopefully to fit the passenger side cubby hole. Anyone recommend an amp?

Just give me a shopping list, wouldja?!

Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you, I'm not savvy on the latest stereo technology. But when I was a physics major in undergrad, I had a friend who was also a physicist and an audiophile. He actually used math and physical analysis to figure out what kind of equipment would produce what kind of output, and he sculpted the most powerful, clear, intense sound system I have ever listened to.

He was using an eclipse deck, an amp and subwoofer I never saw hidden in the trunk, and only 2 speakers. He told me you only have 2 ears so there should only be 2 speakers. The extra speakers will create interference in the sound waves in your car, and either amplify or cancel certain waves, affecting the sound of the music you end up hearing.

With the music on and the volume as loud as I could bear, it was perfectly crystal clear. I will never love again.

Examples of some 968 head, speaker and amp units on thread Radio Poll

I am very happy with my setup, including the head unit. But it is several years old and lacks some of the bells you are looking for.

I just installed a alpine 9887 it can be expanded for all those features. I have a direct connect iPod and Sirius.

I would run component speakers for the best sound quality and just remove all the factory speakers and amps.

Here is a bad write up of some my system when I did most of it awhile back.

Is there enough room for a double-DIN head unit?
