Default looking for 968 engine/transmission

I will be putting a new engine in my 944 and can't decide what engine to put in. A 944 turbo motor or the cool looking 968 motor. Anyone have any of the 2 engines for sale or tips of which one is better.

951 motor is more diffcult to work on if you ever had to do anything to it. What are you planning for this car DE or just street?

Assuming you know you will need the wiring harness and DME if your going the 968 route. Also the torque tube/bell housing setup is going to be different. There are some on here that have done the conversion that could probably offer advice.

944 tt/bell housing fit fine, but you then have to use an S2 flywheel. You also loose the ease of a clutch change with the 968 bellhousing.

Default More questions...

I don't want to hijack this thread....but I was just about to post a question about a car that I have run across in my search for a driver and weekend fun car combination. It's an '89 NA that has had a 968 engine transplant, supposedly professionally done. Also an S2 transaxle. Sub $10K price. Car looks good in limited pix, but I would check out more thoroughly before purchasing. Has AC and other driver-type amenities. I'm thinking this car would be a blast to drive. But I'm not sure if I would be asking for trouble as far as reliability and maintenance goes. Also some concern about gas mileage, but I'm assuming that it would be at least as good as a "regular" 968. Any advice or opinions welcome, especially relating to things to ask and watch out for in a PPI.

TIA.

If you're interested in a used 968 motor (and transaxle - if necessary) I can help you out. Let me know and I can furnish details.
