Firehawk ???

It was a 968 that was made for the firehawk race series. Some specs included extremly light weight, bigger brakes, huge sway bars, and some one off fabrication. If you can get a real deal firehawk car, it will most likely be real banged up, but still driveable for the track. You could buy a street car and convert it to firehawk spec, but the $$$ required is not cheap.

Hi Guys - That's my Firehawk for sale on 968 Forums and I have (had) an ad on Rennlist - My Car was built to Firehawk Specs - by Dave White Racing in Tampa - Dave drove and maintained several Firehawks, he raced in the series in the 90's and won 2 races. If anyone wants a build sheet just e-mail me @ fla968@aol.com. I am recovering from major surgery and that's why I'm selling the car - although I do have mixed emotions. The car is finally fully sorted out and handles like a dream, to me it's the ultimate non-turbo 968. Let me know if anyone has any questions.
Thanks,

Is the 968 Firehawk suspension upgrade permissable for an 89 944 Turbo in Club Racing ?
My 944 is in process of being repaired after having an altercation with a misplaced wall at Road America and redoing the suspension is on the list of 'while I'm in there'.

Just a point of clarification regarding the FireHawk 944's and 968's, they were not factory built. They were 944's and 968's that were modified to compete in the FireHawk/Firestone race series in the late 80's and early 90's. There were specific rules put out by IMSA for all manufacturers.
I have one that was built by Dave White and has all the IMSA stickers on the cage. My 968 was a factory delete sunroof car with the M0 30 package. Koni coilovers were added with the addition of larger sway bars. It's now set up for F class (old E class) PCA racing. I've spent 4 years re-building it both mechanically and cosmetically. It was a typical race car with multiple "battle scars". If you watch the Porsche Cup series races you'll know why these cars took a beating.
I can tell you there are very few original 968 Fire Hawks around. Most were trashed years ago. The restrictions imposed by IMSA impeded the cars competitveness reducing the number modified to enter the series.
I know of a few 968 replica's but the cost to build is significant. The shop I use put one together and it was north of 50K when all said and done. It's a beautiful car but expensive to assemble.
Happy Holidays!

Hi Joe,
I think the next time the Cup car actually moves will be in 3 years when my son turns 18!....and he'll be driving.
Zero time this year for me, as my son will be running the IRL Snap-On Stars of Karting (finally made it to the big show) + club series + lessons.
Look at it this way, these Cup cars had very hard lives early on, mine is just getting a very well deserved rest.
