All 968's for Canada for atleast my model yr (1994) were the same NA spec. I know this because I had a letter from Porsche stating that. This helped me register my car in US and I did not have to go thru any federalization.

I know theres a great article in Excellence # 122 Sept. '03 about a shop in Santa Cruz, CA that started importing around a dozen 959's to start and more to follow the initial batch! They found a loophole and had to change the stock Motronics to a newer stand alone motronics and a custom exhaust with cats!
They were then inspected, federalized, and smogged for the road! He made a mint because he got it all together and you were able to finally start driving the 959 here!
How much money would you say you spend in fixed costs associated with the conversion and goverment fee's. My guess from Canada. wow... thats a hard one, maybe $350.

Good ol' Bruce Canepa. He had a law passed which allows you to drive super exotic cars 1,500 miles per year after modifications. He started with the 959 and has moved on to others like the Bugatti 110. He sells finished 959s (imported from Japan) modded to created 600hp with 0-60s in 3.2sec. I'll organize a trip to go visit him once I have my new 968. Maybe we can convince him to import 968CS's.

thanks for any insight.
I didn't have to spend anything. My paperwork was enough for them to register it. It was odd. i went to one motor vehicle place and they started hassling me. I then decikded to go to a different place and they took in my paperwork without any questions.
BTW, I did have to go thru customs and get the car cleared. It was approx $150 for that.
