Some talk was done on that car a few months ago, its been for sale for over a year now! Im not sure but I think the engine will probably need to be gone through. I would imagine it needs to be toned down a little because you dont get 540 HP out of a 3.0 liter without having driveability issues, not to mention always having to work on it and tune it!

The car was clean, i was there maybe 5-6 months ago test fitting my skinny butt in the Recaro seats on display in the show room. The only issue i saw with the car was the adjustable wing was warped. Hard to explain what i mean, but the adjustable center portion..it looks like the top layer delaminated from the base and was bubbled upwards. Again, hard to explain what i mean. But other than that, the car looked basically perfect.

The word I have on the car was that it was picked up by PAR in either 2004 or 2005, and was unable to be legally registered by the previous owner, John McCarter. It also had a mileage discrepancy and ran hot. It had very low mileage put on it after the conversion, so there may yet be some things to be sorted out.
All of this info is secondhand knowledge, with the exception that I know for a fact that John McCarter owned it. I talked with him and saw the car first hand at the Hershey swap meet the same year that Trev was out there. John was/is a nice guy, but was heading back to Australia and couldn't take the car with him.
Regards,

One of 968 owners a few yrs back had Precision Motorsports do a PPI. The compression and leakdown were all over the place even though the engine only has 5k on it.
I saw the car in person as well. I think at high $20's, it would be a good buy.

Issue #126, Feb. 2004 has an article on two turbocharged 968's.
Issue #86, June 1999 has 'Outrageous 944 and 968 Turbos'
Not sure which issue it is.
Is the PowerHouse car in question a 8v or 16v car?

I don't recall which issue, but I think it was on the cover? There is also a picture in the Excellence issue that covered one of the early great 968 Hershey gatherings.
I do remember the rear hatch seal was crappy . . .

Its is a 16 valve. There is only one 968 turbo at PAR, the ex John McCarter car. Knowing what it takes to turbocharge, its not a bad deal at high $20's. I would suggest to leave an additional $5k to sort "things" out.
This way you don't go in thinking you are getting a turn key car. It has a lot of goodies but he started with a high mileage car. The car runs fine and is quick, just needs to be sorted out a bit. It is very stiff ride with camber plates and super stiff springs and lowered quite a bit. I remember it having big reds, cross drilled rotors and Kinesis wheels. The rear spoiler is not a PM spoiler but an aftermarket one. Same for the splitter, its a fiberglass unit. The NACA ducts are at incorrect location and the latch mechanism is somewhat funky.
Nothing that a little TLC can't fix. Its a good baseline to start.
