Default Waves in Top of Fenders

Has anybody ever had the top of the fenders paint less dent repaired????

I have the proverbial wavy fenders...not bad but I want them minimized.

Also I have the CUP II wheels (painted white from factory) and was wondering if there is a good way to DIY paint them?

Thanks,

D

D, yes it is possible to have paintless dent removal guys work on your fenders to get some of those ripples out.
As far as painting wheels, I would say the same would hold true if they are clear coated. You need to sand them, prep them, paint them and clear coat them. Your other option would be to have them powdercoated.

Raj,

Thanks for the advice.

I think you are almost always the first to respond...you are very valuable to this forum and to the 968 family.

Thanks again,

D

What do you mean by "wavy fenders"? I think I might have the same thing, but I'm not sure. If it's no trouble, could you post a picture?

Yeah, Raj rocks.

wavy from when someone leans and uses the fender(which is soft and dents easily!) for support while working on the engine

so if you look at the top of the fender from certain angles it has little ripples in it

YUP...mostly mechanics or owners unaware of how soft the top of the 968 fenders are.

Has anyone tried to smooth "mechanics elbow" dents out yourself?

I used dry ice to help a friend out, it worked okay for the wavy fenders, but won't remove significant dents. It took about 15-20 minutes per "wave", and it was a pain to find someone that would sell us the dry ice that particular day. I think they were convinced we were up to no good, altho I have no idea what mischie f you could cause with dry ice...

Regards,

If you stick dry ice in a water bottle filled with water, then close the cap, the bottle will explode after a minute. It makes a fairly loud bang, and it will leave a good mark in concrete if you leave it on the sidewalk as it blows up.

Anyway... I guess I better stop climbing onto the fenders to view the TDC mark in the bellhousing.
