Default Cab Top Question

top on my girls '95 968 Cab started acting up last week. Looks like the motor is working as the passenger side is trying to move. However, the drivers side isn't working. Looks like this top only has one motor on the passenger side and the drivers side is driven by a cable coming off of the motor. Is this correct?? And, is it possible that the cable went bad and the motor is fine? Any insight would help before I tear into it and start ordering parts.

Thanks

Jim

there are two motors, you can put the top in manual mode temporarily so she can still enjoy top down weather. Check your fuses and relays before you put it in manual mode so you don't have to realign everything.

If one motor is working and the other is not, be very careful. The top can torque and break the bow. I put my top in manual mode for two reasons - 1.) Don't want to experience the infamous broken bow syndrom and 2.) prefer not having to worry about the key and ignition to raise and lower the top. Much nicer in manual mode! If you decide to go manual, you can disable the relay or disconnect the switch to prevent someone else from running the motors accidentally.

I disconnected the 2 motors in mine. I regret doing it since I would much rather prefer to put things back in power mode. Its a PITA to get out of the car everytime you have to pull the top back or on.
Unfortunately I will need to align if I go back to power mode.

Manual mode does not bother me in the least and it's faster than the power mode on my wife's cab.
