Default 968 car bra's

I have yet to see a pic of a 968 wearing one. I'm thinking of picking one up from Pelican and I would like to know how it connects to the car. If any of you have a 964 with a bra you know how much of a pain the bra is.
I'm hoping that the 968 is not the same.

The bra may protect from chips, but if you do not take it off after the car has been wet you may get water stains.

Oh I know about that. But thanks for the concern. The vette owners that I mentioned earlier had the 968 outside for a month with the bra on during 2 rainstorms. They really don't care what happens to that car. Its sad, really.

You also have to be careful of sand/dirt/grit getting behind the bra (between the bra and painted surface), especially if the bra starts "slapping' at speed.

FWIW, I would never put one on my cars.....either go 'commando' and get a respray when needed or go with a '3M' film bra and replace as needed.

I agree with Lewis. the 3m bra would be a better option. I have the OEM bra, but I only use it when I'm driving hundreds of miles.
Here is a picture of it on my car - in this photo I dont have the additional piece on the hood.

The OEM bra connects with plactic clips that wrap around the wheel well and tabs that slide in the engine bay.

Here's a picture with bra. Not my taste and not my car, but gives you an idea to make up your own mind. Also you just gotta love the "Gateway" inpired seat covers.

The '3M' isn't that glue on plastic stuff is it?

I would describe it as an adhesive film as opposed to "glue on plastic" stuff, but yes.
I have it on the pepper.

If you are looking for another alternative, there is also a 'spray on' clear bra....think of it like a clearcoat. Sprayed on 1 mil at a time, about 5-6 layers, then baked on in a booth....again, just like clearcoat.
I had it applied to my daily driver (Ford Escape Hybrid) about a year ago and so far I've been happy with it.

The 3M film can be applied and removed with no paint issues. There are many different brands/installers, but they are all basically derivatives of the 3M film product.

Well, I want to pick up some touch up paint and fix some dings but, if it acts like clearcoat I would like to try it.

The factory bra is fine, you just have to be careful about wet and grit. I have used car bras on and off for 20 years and have never had the catastrophes or paint damage that some people describe. However, I only use them for long highway trips and pull them whenever wet. I have dried one more than once on a shower rod in a hotel room.

What I don't like about the factory bra is how it attaches in the wheel wells. It is hard to get the bendable metal tabs to hold the material taughtly enough. Often when I stop and check the bra the lower tab in the wheel well has come undone and is flapping slightly.

The 968 bra is two piece and it can be hard to close the hood with the bra in place. You really have to slam/drop it hard. Nice thing about the two piece is that you can opt to just use the hood portion - I think it looks kind of cool.

I have the two piece and I don't have a problem closing the hood. I like it because it hides the stone chips

Thanks. It was taken at the 2005 Concours where I took second place in the 924/944/968 class. And that's NOT me behind the car...
