Also, well executed steering wheel setup in the red 968.

Interestingly, I'm noticing more 968 turbos in Europe than other places. Not of the original 4 or so though. I wonder if all these are true turbo conversions or NAs with just outside marking?

The red one is a true turbo S. There were 16 turbo S and 4 RS.

Here's another. A 3.0L 16 valve turbo by HMR with a TECgt and tuning from Chris White. Before installing the TECgt it was running with a re-programed Motronic and making 373 rwhp at 1 bar. I will eventually get back to the dyno and I'm pretty sure it will be making a few more ponies with the standalone EMS.

Sweet looking ride with a clean install. HMR does some nice work! Do you know what turbo is on it?

I posted a short video of my car doing some passes. Don't know if you guys saw it or not.

Mike O,

You have a beautiful car. I am sure you are a proud owner and HMR is going to get a lot more customers with those numbers. More pictures please! Thx.

Thanks, guys, for the nice comments. I do have to agree, she shore is pretty!

The turbo is a bit of a mystery. It has an HMR part number on it and Jason Lee is keeping everything else close to the vest. If I was interested in knowing for sure I suppose I could post a bunch of pictures and measurements then the experts around here could probably ID it. No matter what it is, I hope to find its limits later this year.

Here's the engine

I've been meaning to take a series of beauty shots. Of course that hasn't happened. One of these days....

Mike, have seen a few pics before of your car I think during the build, was wondering about the intercooler, is that what those extra vents are for at the front? How high do you think you could safely run the boost?
Can you tell us a bit about the rest of the car?

The intercooler is located in front of the radiator and just behind the Turbo S like slot. The two smaller slots will provide some air, but I look at them as more of a styling accent that sets the car apart from the Turbo S factory and replica cars.

How high can the boost go? I'll let the experts weigh in on that. I am trying it at 17psi (1.2 bar). 22psi (1.5 bar) is a possibility. Right now with the boost controller off and a 0.5 bar spring in the Tial 43mm waste gate the car is plenty peppy for around town driving. With the boost controller on, I'm currently set to 1 bar or 1.2 bar depending on my mood

As for the rest of the car there is a 2007 thread on clubstuttgart.net that has some more pictures and info. I'll put up a new thread here this week with a list of the build details.

Mike, nice car and glad to see it come together. You could get away with more boost than most other apps because you are using a 16 valve head.
So HMR has different maps for different boost levels?

Raj,

Yes, it has taken a while, hasn't it? For the fuel and ignition map the original HMR product used a reprogrammed Motronic. This turned out to be a little limited and I decided to abandon it in favor of the TECgt standalone which I bought from Chris White at 944 Enhancement. The TECgt uses manifold absolute pressure to determine air flow and the maps should be good up to 2 bar of boost. That's 29 psi and I KNOW that I'm not going there. What I will be doing is taking data/tweaking settings/gradually increasing boost.

Jason Lee at HMR and I had discussed all of this in the beginning. He had wanted to go with a MOTEC EMS but I wanted to try the car with the less expensive approach of the reprogrammed Motronic for a while. When the time was right, I would buy and install a TEC EMS. The lesson I learned is that I should gone with standalone from the beginning.
