Anyone have any engine bay pics (stock or otherwise) as I'm almost done swapping the 968 engine into my 944, and I'd like to powdercoat the intake, valve cover, and fuel rail/vanity cover prior to bolting everything up.

Just looking for some inspiration/colour themes I could go with.

My engine bay. I've seen many pictures of powder-coat jobs on 968 engines and didn't like the look.
I stayed with factory finish, or as close to it as I can get. I had the cam cover bolts nickel-plated.
The lettering is from Jager Engineering.

John, very nice looking interior. I went with Zinc plating for all nuts/bolts because that is what the factory color is. I used a place out in CA and sent them a sample to match. The price was great and all nuts/bolts/heatshields look brand new when done.

i completely agree - to each his own of course, but i like the clean look of the aluminum - i think other colors on the large parts just make it too busy and gaudy - an accent here or there would be ok, but that's about as far as i think i could handle it - i used to do all that kind of thing to my engines, but it was mostly for rust protection on cast iron blocks and such - if i had aluminum, i always left it alone or polished it

i really like the letters, like john has in that shot, and as soon as i can figure this danged strut tower brace out so i have clearance, i'll do them, likely in body color

I have no conception how you guys keep the bay so clean? Looks like they're not driven and kept in a hermetically sealed garage! Nice one. Maybe 951's just produce more mess under there, not sure?

Silverbullet that's very similar to what i was thinking...

Is the stock valve cover/intake painted silver, or is it just clean aluminum? I haven't cleaned mine yet but figured powdercoating it silver would last longer?

lol - for me it's easy - i got into the habit a long time ago - i didn't want to be black flagged by the tech steward, and any signs of a leak anywhere, and that's what would happen - dirt accumulated was a sure sign of a leak - hence, i kept that puppy clean

now, i get in and clean it after each drive, and i keep a good coat of wax on the engine bay paint, just as i would on the body paint - also, fix leaks the moment they start - since it's only seen maybe 1000 miles a year lately, and there is no salt on the road here, it's not too tough

frankly i can't understand how people let the engine bay get dirty - getting in and cleaning it is pretty easy, something anybody can do with no skills, and a great way to spot trouble early

I haven't found a powdercoater who can do speed yellow, I wanted to highlight the Porsche lettering. Other than that and my strut tower brace it's pretty stock in appearance. John's car must never leave the garage in Maine for 8 months a year, it's always clean. And Raj's cars are always minty.

Valve cover is just cleaned up - and it took a LONG time to tape off the PORSCHE letters on that cover! But I was happy to see it came out real nice. Powder Coating is awesome!!!

I think I'll just powdercoat the entire thing and apply the JagEng letters to it... Will they still fit in the smaller space due to the powdercoat thickness?
