What do you mean it doesn't work, does the compressor kick on? Also, check the HCV.

I can't tell if the compressor is working or not. I will have to have someone turn it on while I am out by the engine. The exhaust is too loud to hear. The fans do come on when the a/c button is pushed. BTW my car is on page 157 of grass roots motor sports!!!!

The fans coming on seem to indicate the system works on the inside (heater controls),
With the engine running and the A/C switch on, the A/C clutch should engage (front of compressor), if not you will have to verify voltage at the clutch plug (2wire plug near pulley) should be 0v with switch off and (12v?)With switch on/engine running. Also if you have a sight glass in the drier- you should see -bubbles but only a few small ones. If this doesn’t help you can find the cut off switch near the H-valve and jumper that to force the comp to engage then look for bubbles (allot of bubbles means the system is low on Freon, this in turn means you have a leak) and will cause the system not to engage.
