968 mirrors - taking apart / bodyshop question
Got a pair of 968 mirrors I need to have repainted. Currently they sit as a whole unit with base and glass attached. If I drop them off to a bodyshop will they easily be able to take the housing apart from the base? Looking at some instructions It seems like its a pain to do...I obviously dont want them to paint the mirrors while the base and housing are mated together or break them taking them apart but they are currently 5 hours away from me and I was going to have someone else drop the car and mirrors off at the same time. (to ensure a correct paint match on the mirrors/handles.)

Sorry I didn't see this earlier Sam. I just did this exact procedure for a set I am getting painted up for my 951. The body shop was clueless how to get it apart. lol
Go to 951Motorsports.com, Keith Foster has a beautiful write up, including the materials list of hardware you need to construct a compression tool to remove the body from the base. Works like a champ and will take you about 5 minutes tops. It sounds harder than it is to do.
