Question Power seat question

Does anyone know the details of the power seat wiring/connectors in a 95 968?

I believe the OEM seats are 993 seats (MY94 and MY95), but I was told there were 4 and 8 way adjustable seats available as options.

Is the vehicle connector the same (simply provides power) and the seat handles all the rest (switches and wiring).....ignoring heat for the time being.

Thanks,

Yes, the cars come prewired and the seat option determines what works and what doesn't.

Raj,
That's kind of what I would have guessed; one standard vehicle side seat connector and the internal seat wiring/option determines the rest.

However, the newer Porsches (like the Cayenne) are actually built with VIN specific wiring harnesses, so if the option is not on the original build/configuration, there is no wiring/connector to support it. Makes upgrades, even using factory parts, impossible without rewiring the whole car.

Thanks again for the time and advice

Could anyone please confirm that 993 seats are the same as 94-95 968 seats, at least with respect to mounting/rails.

I've always heard them referred to as 993 style seats...just assumed they were exactly the same.

(Yes, it's seat upgrade time....might be easier than new OEM skins)

Thanks

A few people have put the 993 seats (hardback etc). The boxster/996 seats mounting points dont line up with the 968, but the 993 will

The stock and 'soft' sport seats are the same for the 94-95 968 and 993-in fact, smart 993 guys have figured this out if they want to upgrade to sport seats-for some reason you can pick them up cheaper if they come out of a 968 instead of a 993.

Thanks.
I kind of figured that PAG wouldn't change mounting rails/locations between a 968 and 993 seat.

Based on the confidence acquired here, I just ordered the new seats:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...:B:BOCOR:MOT:1

12 way power, heat (even though not originally described), black supple leather, embossed Porsche crest (996TT has this option...looks nice), out of a 993TT 'donor' car.

Should be here in 2 weeks (FedEx Ground).

I really hope it's a "simple drop in replacement/plug it in and it works install"

Six Hex bolts. One on each front side, two on each side in the back. They are inside the track.

Two connectors under the seat and you are done.

Good luck. Those are nice looking seats - I like the crest. Heated?

Thanks Shamus.

The embossed Porsche crest was an Exclusive programme option IIRC. The supple leather is very nice as well. They should be very comfortable seats.

I called LA Porsche Dismantlers (wouldn't have been my first choice for a company name) before buying them and the person on the phone said the seats were in fact heated; I had noticed what looked like the heater switch/adjust in one of the pictures. Supple leather is nice too.

I am really hoping the install goes well....I'm not mechanically inclined (translated: I'm always the one who ends up with stripped bolts, etc).
