Default Will 94 968 cabin air filters fit on a 92? Any one been able to make a filter?

I pulled off the two metal grid style covers that cover each fresh air intake. I'm wondering if the 94 model filters I have heard about will fit the 92 or if anyone has successsfully made their own filter using the original covers.

Hi Brian,
The '94 filters won't fit because the air box was modified for the '94 model year to accomodate them.

Thanks for the tip; wish I had received your reply a day sooner, I went out last night and spent about half the cost of the KLA filter inserts buying a furnace microfilter (spun paper) some expanded metal and fasteners and made up a filter paper and expanded metal sandwhich on each cover................it restricts the flow quite a bit,..........so I am thinking it won't work well. I will post pics and results later.

Is this something that should be replaced periodically?

Most other manufacturers that run micron filters recommend changing one atleast every 30K if not sooner. It also depends on what kind of driving condition, ie dusty conditions would ask for a change sooner. When you take it off, you will be able to see how dirty it is and if it should be changed.
