Default XP: Solid Torsion Tube Mount???

I am in the middle of dropping my t-bars and I pulled my torsion bar mount out and it looks like hell. I can't imagine it looked very good when it left the factory, but it certainly looks worse 20 years later.

I am curious if any of you have switched to one of the following solid mounts:
Elephant Racing Products

Racer's Edge

Kokeln from Lindsey Racing

If you have, I would appreciate your feedback:
  • Was there a noticeable improvement?
  • Have you had any issues with them?
  • Were there any installation issues?
  • Was it worth $230-240 for the pair?
  • Do you drive your car on the street, street/track or just track?

If there are alternatives to this, please let me know.

Thanks!

I put in the Racer's Edge ones. I have replaced almost everything with solid or spherical bearings. I club race the car AND drive it on the street. I have no complaints. The only squeaking/creaking at the back is more likely the coilovers than these bushings.

The 968 is a pretty isolated and soft car to begin with. I have not minded removing anything with 13-year-old worn rubber in is so far.

Stick with Porsche motor mounts and trans mounts, keep the balance shafts, and you solve most of the NVH challenges with these cars, IMHO.

I also use Racer's Edge products. I like them and find Karl very good to work with.

We deleted the torsion bars and went with the Bilstein Cup coil over suspension all around. It's too firm for the street, though, if you're considering a dual purpose car.

Do you think the solid torsion mount is too harsh for the street or that the whole suspension setup is too firm due to the shock valving?

I would say that it's more a function of the shocks and springs...I've got 700# all around.

Cool, I didn't think that switching this mount to solid would make the car appreciably harsher. I believe it will reduce some deflection though. Thanks.

Agree on the deflection, that's why I've been going sans-rubber all around. I cannot say it's made a huge difference, as I upgraded shocks/springs at the same time. But it can't hurt, right?
