Default 968 Short Shift

Anyon installed a short shift in their 968. How difficult a job is it? Can DIYer complete the work in an afternoon? who makes the best one at a reasonable cost? Anything comparable to a Wevo shifter? Thanks for any advice.

Sm, I bought mine from 944racing. Jeff is a great guy and I can forward you his email. It takes approx 1-2hrs to peform the task and can be done with exhaust in place. It will shorten 1-2 shift the most and also offer a lot more precise shifting at cost of more effort. I like it and highly recommend it. You will need to readjust your linkage length after the install to get the same angle on shifter.
Regards.

the 944 racing kit is a joy to use - very unfortunately jeff has dropped off the map - chris at speed-6.com had the last 4 kits the last time i talked to him about it - after that, there's no telling when the next similar kit will be available

as raj says, it is fairly easy to install and can be done with the exhaust in place - you can save yourself a bunch of scrapes on the back or your hand though by dropping the rear hangers and giving yourself some more room

be sure to use locktite on the bolts when installing - a loose one will leave you stranded

Yeah, last week. The week before that and this coming week. I speak to him often.

Bump...

Who makes a "short shift kit" for the 968 these days?

I do not want one that involves replacing the shifter, rather the gear linkage part that fits onto the transaxle.

I read on here that the 944 unit won't work but couldn't it be made to work?
