Default Gutting the interior

OK fellows I've decided to bite the bullet...

I'm going to remove all the carpeting, and such, from my 968 and get it closer to a full race car. I still would like to keep the A/C, though!

Can anybody tell me what product you use to remove the glue?

This is going to be a serious winter project...I don't think it's a quick weekend DIY.

I'll most likely replace the Autopower Rollbar, and get something which has some side impact protection, too.

Can anybody give me some advice on what brand they are using?

I'm thinking very strongly of getting a race seat which has side head support, too.

Anybody have some reccommendation?

Thanks,

Jason

Call Will at Precision Motorsport Racing. His advice is free and once you stop by, you will see why I recommend him. He supports some serious race machinery with a bunch of factory 996 RSR's and such.
Give him a call at 908-832-6572 and you can use my name as a reference if you like.

Thanks Raj...

Sounds like a nice excuse to get out in the car for a drive, too!

Jay,

Let me know when you start working and I will come over and help. We will need lots of beer.

The Safety Devices cage has side impact bars. Nice fit. It is welded into the car at six different points. The cage is available through Stable Energies.

You can check with John Paterek (973) 635-5918, for what solvents to use. John is the technical advisor for PCA on interiors & exteriors and is reknowned for his Porsche restoration work. Very nice man.

Back to the cage. Unfortunately (or, fortunately), I can personally vouch for the Safety Devices cage. As a matter of fact, if you're interested I would sell you mine. I don't think I'll be putting a full cage in my "new" 968. Call me and I'll explain.

Ciao.

Richard

Definitely check out Precision Motorsports. Will took great care of my 944 S2 and is now wrenching on my Cup. He also works on my friends 968 FireHawk. I have been so impressed with his service/attention to detail that I drive from Upstate NY (3.5 hrs) to his facility.

K964,

Them's pretty stong words of endorsement!

Gotta' respect a guy that makes that drives those miles to have his car serviced correctly!

Thanks for the info!

Jason
