Wow, sorry to hear Greg. All I read was "911" and I thought you upgraded!

Is the car repairable or will it be totaled?

The car is certainly repairable - I've repaired race cars to very decent quality with similar damage - but in terms of fiances, I'm expecting the insurance company to "total it". It's a 120k miles car that, despite being in great condition (I've had it since new), will not be financially viable.

But it is definitely still a good driving car so if the monies work out right then I'll buy it and pay one of my race car buddies to repair it. I can't see buying another comparable-quality driver car like this one for the amount of money it will cost. And it'll last another 100k miles, easy.

But we'll see. - GA

Quick follow up: working with the appraiser, talking sweetly, and making some concessions* I was able to get the GTI repaired without a salvage title. It's still a good driver car.

My 968 is not amused, being stuck in a (heated) garage for six months. Believe me, it hurts me more than it hurts you...

*Accepting minor dents in the front fender and scratches on the wheel, replacing the right door myself, hoping that the minor flat spots on the tires will eventually go away...

My understanding is that minor flat spots will wear away with some spirited driving!
When I store my 968 for 6 months, I pump up the tires to 45 lbs. They even hold the 45 lbs for all 6 months...
