Thumbs up 911 and Porsche World 968 issue

Got the new issue last night at Barnes and Noble. Awesome! The cover reads "Why you have to own one."

I am trying not to read the articles yet as I have a bunch of business travel starting tommorow and I wanted to read it on the plane. My wife was laughing at me, "you won't be able to wait..."

I'm looking forward to reading the article as well. Some have said that the article has nothing new in it. So what. Not much new to say about any unmodified car that is ten years old and has been well gone over by the press.

Still, I think this is great publicity for our favorite Porsche (at least it is my favorite Porsche). I think it is great when the cover of a major sports car magazine says folks have to own one.

Thank you 911 and Porsche World. Now how about changing the name to 911, 968 & Porsche World.

Some factual errors in the text, and no mention of 968.net seemed odd. I bought a copy two weeks ago in London, and it was fun reading while away. But saying the hood has hydraulic struts???

Damian, what is the answer to the magazine's question: "Why you have to own one."

Did they say that? I remember the cover asked 'Can you afford not to own a 968?'

Hey, I'm always happy to read about the cars, I just was surprised at some of the errors. They've always liked the car at 911PorscheWorld, so it has gotten ink over the years.

OK - read it on the plane to Pittsburg. Good, happy, pro-968 articles. Some common-sense things to look for (including a 70k cam chain and tensioiner change suggestion!).

The weird thing - the interior photos are from a 944 series cabrio! Old style door panels, no clock, and no under armrest speaker panel (specifically mentioned in the article). Now maybe it is a UK spec thing, I don't know. But it does not seem right.

And for the record the US cover reads: Balance of power/Why you HAVE to own a 968!

Thats wild that they have different covers for US vs UK editions. The headline reads 156 mph, 12,000 pounds.

Ralph, I'm going to pm you my phone number, call over the weekend and we'll try and set up a meet next week in Hackensack.

Oops, not next week, the week after, right?

Hey, that's right, you owe me at least a drink or two-it wasn't until yesterday that I remembered I'd looked at your car!

Right, week after next. And that car did wind up needing a clutch.

Talk to you over the weekend.

Darn it! I'm at Heathrow right now and they've gone to the next month's issue. I hope I can still find them at newsstands backhome.
